Poor Cheryl became the victim of an unfortunate costume mishap as Girls Aloud took to the stage for their latest tour show in Dublin.

Cheryl, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts, and Kimberley Walsh kicked off their hotly-anticipated reunion tour last week, during which they honour late bandmate Sarah Harding, who sadly died from breast cancer in 2021.

In true Girls Aloud style, the show is jam-packed with epic choreography, stylish outfits, and incredible production, not to mention a set list of dreams, with tunes ranging from their first number one, Sound Of The Underground, to the more recent bop Something New.

Another tune on the set list is the 2007 banger Sexy! No No No…, released in 2007.

On tour, the group recreate the iconic music video, which involves them standing on platforms and wearing red lengthy skirts which inflate.

Well, they are meant to inflate.

Alas, Cheryl’s balloon skirt didn’t quite get the memo in Ireland, with fan footage quickly circulating of the blunder.

While the rest of the band rocked out with their skirts in motion amid the wind machines, Cheryl’s remained limp and lifeless.

On-brand as ever, though, Cheryl was able to poke fun at the error, sharing a fan’s TikTok on Instagram, which had the caption: ‘Justice for Cheryl’s inflatable skirt.’

The video was edited to include famous audio from an episode of the docuseries Girls Aloud: Off the Record, which aired on E4 in 2006, in which Cheryl complained to the band’s stylist about wearing her ‘own clothes’ for press, while the rest of the group was dressed from wardrobe.

She is heard saying: ‘No, all I’m saying is – everybody else is dressed to the nines and I look like a tramp!’

Their stylist then tells her: ‘You don’t look like a tramp, babe.’

Cheryl asks: ‘Well why did we not all just get dressed from wardrobe?’

Reposting the hilarious meme, Cheryl added a laughing emoji with the text: ‘The internet remains undefeated.’

At least she can laugh at herself!

Girls Aloud fans were also living for the mishap, with the original TikTok, posted by MissRoots, gaining over 180,000 views.

A user called Anna commented: ‘dedd at the off the record sound clip , perfect use of it [sic]’.

Lewis Eagle wrote: ‘this is absolutely brilliant 😂😭’

Pauline Leatham said: ‘I can’t stop laughing 😂😂😂👏’

Girls Aloud are only a few shows into their tour and it’s already been a rollercoaster of emotions, particularly as they pay tribute to Harding on stage and grow tearful.

Performing at the 3Arena on Saturday, Cheryl was reduced to tears during their rendition of I’ll Stand By You, which they sang beautifully while a picture montage of Harding was displayed behind them.

The tour, which has been dedicated to Harding, also sees the foursome begin to perform one of their biggest hits, The Promise, before turning their backs to the audience to watch footage of Harding singing the song on her own.

Girls Aloud were catapulted to fame when they won Popstars: The Rivals in 2002.

The five-piece went on to achieve four UK number one singles and won a Brit Award.

For their 10th anniversary in 2012, the band reunited. A second reunion was planned for their 20th anniversary when Harding was diagnosed with cancer.

Ahead of hitting the road for their first show back since losing Harding, a post on the official Girls Aloud X account said: ‘Rehearsals? Done. Choreography? Ready. Outfits? Fitted. Girls? Aloud.

‘We’ve been working so hard to make this show special for all of you.’

The group will perform up and down the country over the coming weeks, with concerts scheduled in cities including London, Liverpool, and Manchester.
