The Chase has been booted out of its usual 5pm ITV slot after the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called an emergency press conference – much to the chagrin of fans.
As Foreign Secretary Lord Cameron rushed back from Albania and Defence Secretary Grant Shapps delayed his trip to the Baltic States to hear the long-awaited general election date, July 4, there’s one inconvenience the British public simply won’t stand for…
ITV reality competition The Chase is being pushed out of the TV schedule for the auspicious announcement.
The Chase, hosted by Bradley Walsh, sees four contestants ‘pit their wits against the Chaser, a ruthless quiz genius’ in order to score a massive prize money.
The quiz shows airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV and averages between three to five million viewers since it started running in 2009.
Needless to say it has accumulated a dedicated fanbase over the past 15 years and they are all taking their fury out on social media at the sudden cancellation.

‘Whatever happened to a quick newsflash between programmes,’ @judithw59 wrote.
‘Can’t believe they’ve cancelled The Chase for this? Bradley Walsh would NOT mess us around like this,’ @joshxreid wrote.
‘@ITV get the chase on nobody’s interested in the general election,’ @rangersfann01 echoed.
‘Son is absolutely fuming #thechase has been stopped for this nonsense!’ @laurapotts89 added.
The Chase is not the only TV show affected by the political chaos. Pointless also saw its usual BBC One slot shifted to BBC Two.
This unfortunately meant Flog It fans were also left out in the cold as their daily dose of auctioning fun was removed from the schedule.
Sunak announced his six-week campaign intentions to the backdrop of Labour’s 1997 election anthem Things Can Only Get Better.
He said: ‘This hard-earned economic stability was only ever meant to be the beginning, the question now is how and who do you trust to turn that foundation into a secure future for you, your family, and our country?
‘Now is the moment for Britain to choose its future, to decide whether we want to build on the progress we have made or risk going back to square one with no plan and no certainty.’
The Chase returns from tomorrow at 5pm on ITV.
