Jennifer Lopez was confronted with the rumours that she’s split from Ben Affleck at a recent appearance in Mexico City.

The iconic singer, 54, was promoting her new Netflix film Atlas alongside actor Simu Liu when a journalist asked about her marriage.

The reporter asked: ‘Is your divorce with Ben Affleck real? These rumors? What is the truth? Para le press le Mexicana [for the Mexican press], what is the truth of the situation?’

Liu quickly addressed the reporter overstepping with the question, saying: ‘Okay we’re not doing that. Thank you so much guys, we really appreciate it. Thank you.’

Lopez then chastised the unnamed reporter, leaning forward and making eye contact with the press member, responding coldly, ‘You know better than that.’

‘C’mon, don’t come in with that energy, please,’ Liu added.

Before ending the Q&A, Liu took the opportunity to praise J Lo: ‘If I could just end on one thing,’ Liu continued. ‘Jen is a producer on this movie and the reason why I am here and why Sterling [K. Brown] was in this beautiful movie is because Jen cares. And Jen cares about things like representation and diversity, and she’s a boss.’

Lopez then said, in Spanish: ‘Thank you. No one asked me anything in Spanish but okay.’ She seemed to shake off the awkward interaction, blowing a kiss at the crowd as they laughed.

Still, rumours continue to swirl about the state of Affleck and Lopez’s marriage.

The iconic couple, often referred to as Bennifer, first dated in the early 2000s, getting engaged in 2002 before calling it quits in 2004.

They were linked again in 2021, giving their romance another chance after so many years apart, eventually getting married in 2022.

Recently, an insider told In Touch: ‘The writing is on the wall – it’s over. They’re headed for a divorce – and for once, [Ben’s] not to blame!’

‘He’s focusing on his work and his kids now,’ the insider added. The source went on to say that Affleck has moved out of the couple’s shared home.

The rumour lines up with reports that Lopez was recently spotted house hunting, despite having just bought a $60.85million (£48.1m), 46,000-square foot home with Affleck a year ago.

‘They’ll never stop loving each other, but she can’t control him, and he can’t change her. There’s no way it could have lasted,’ the source said of the supposed split.

They continued: ‘They waited almost two decades to get back together, but in the end, they just couldn’t make it work. They both said they’d matured and learned from their mistakes, but some of the bigger issues that tore them apart the first time remained the same.’
