Great British Sewing Bee judge Patrick Grant has been praised after he let rip at the last 14 yeas of Conservative rule ahead of the general election.
Yesterday, Rishi Sunak announced a general election would be held on July 4 as the rain left him soaking and protestor Steve Bray blasted out ‘Labour anthem’ Things Will only Get Better, drowning out the Prime Minister’s speech.
Hours after the announcement sent shock waves through Westminster, Grant, 52, appeared on BBC’s Debate Night with host Stephen Jardine where he reflected on the last 14 years under Tory prime ministers David Cameron, Theresa May, Boris Johnson, Liz Truss and Sunak.
The fashion entrepreneur said: ‘I can’t help feeling that we have had a Conservative government that has done more harm and less good to both the country and the general population, than any government in my 50 years.
‘Most governments in the past, whatever way you vote, you could probably point to something they’ve done something better for somebody but I genuinely can’t think of anything this government has done that has made anything better for anybody.
‘I could probably spend the next hour listing things that they’ve made worse.’

He also said it was ‘absolutely time’ for ‘better politics’, stressing his support for a General Election.
Viewers applauded grant for summing up how a lot of the nation is feeling ahead of the polls opening on July 4.
Wren wrote on X: ‘Patrick Grant absolutely nails it, and makes the understatement of the year when he calls the current politicians “Somewhat Shambolic”. Brilliant!’

Mxyzptlk agreed Grant was ‘spot on’ while Trator said the star’s outburst was ‘just another reason for you to love him a little bit more’.
Posts echoing appreciation for Grant came flooding in with Chris Lee noting he demonstrates ‘that those who would make the best politicians are too wise to go into politics’.
Less than 24 hours into the race for the next leadership, it’s been a rocky start for both Sunak and Sir Keir Starmer.
Starmer tripped over and rolled his ankle outside his house in his first appearance since Sunak was drenched and drowned out to the blasts of D:Ream’s Things Will Only Get Better.
The 90s indie-pop anthem has already shot up iTunes charts where it will likely stay until we have a new Prime Minister.
Debate Night Airs Wednesdays at 10.30pm on BBC Scotland.
