If you look up ‘icon’ in the dictionary, you might find English singer-songwriter Paloma Faith. After being asked on social media, ‘Who are you, please?’ the star had the perfect response.
The Brit Award winner, 42, burst into the music scene in 2009 with her debut single, Stone Cold Sober. Reaching number 17 on the UK Singles Chart was only the first of many successes for the musician, yet despite her success, one person is claiming they don’t know who she is.
Taking to TikTok this week, Faith shared a video showing herself making dramatised expressions to prove she has had no cosmetic procedures. ‘People always ask me if I’ve had any work done because I’m 42,’ she said in the video.
‘And I just wanted to prove that I’ve got all the emotions’, she said making multiple faces, adding, ‘but you can’t really see because I’ve got a fringe’.
The satirical video prompted a massive response from fans, earning more than 12,000 likes and almost 300 comments. While many praised the star, @lj_poppy caught the attention of the Only Love Can Hurt Like This singer when she asked for clarification on who she is.
Faith had a cutting response to the awkward question, writing, ‘All your worst nightmares come true’.
Racking up hundreds of likes, the user who first posed the question wrote back, ‘You probably are!’ while others praised the singer for her cutting response.
@claireritapembert wrote, ‘😂😂😂 best response beaut loved you in pennyworth 🥰’, @becca13134 added, ‘The people’s queen paloma faith! 😍’.
Another fan, @username0092010907190, hit out at the user who asked the question, declaring, ‘Please, this is Paloma Faith. You can’t be that uncultured’, with @itsmaffoioi adding, ‘Don’t act like you don’t know who this queen is 🤦🏼♂️’.
Faith has seen huge commercial success since her debut in 2009. Along with her debut single, her first album, Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful, for which she wrote or co-wrote each individual song, debuted at number 14 on the UK Albums Chart that same year before peaking at number nine.

Faith’s record held a space on the charts for 16 weeks and became BBC Radio 2’s Album of the Week on September 19, 2009.
In the years since her debut, the award-winning singer has gone from strength to strength. In 2014, with the release of her third album, A Perfect Contradiction, she saw the fastest sales to date, debuting at number two in the UK.
Her second single off the album, Only Love Can Hurt Like, ultimately became one of her most well-known worldwide. After debuting at number six in the UK, it would go on to reach number one in Australia and number three in New Zealand.

Faith saw her first number one single in 2014 when she collaborated with the popular DJ duo Sigma on Changing. Her most recent album The Glorification of Sadness, was released in February and is accompanied by a nationwide tour.
In addition to her successful singing career, the Lullaby singer was a judge on The Voice UK in 2016 and has multiple acting credits, including playing Andrea in the much-loved 2007 film St Trinian’s.
In her personal life, Faith married French artist Leyman, 36, in 2017, and the couple were together for nine years before splitting in 2022.
Together they share two daughters, eight and three — and she now says having children changed their relationship to the point of their split.
