Erm, so Vicky McClure had a friendship Madonna and we feel like we’ve missed several chapters here.

The Line of Duty star, 41, made the surprising revelation as she also just casually confessed to partying with the Like A Prayer hitmaker several years ago.

Appearing on This Morning, Vicky told hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley about the time she worked alongside Madonna in 2008 comedy/romance movie Filth and Wisdom.

Vicky starred in the project alongside the likes of Richard E. Grant, Eugene Hütz, and Holly Weston, as she played Juliette.

‘I was still working in the office, I didn’t have an agent at the time, I’d done This Is England the film and then Stephen Graham rang me, because he was in [Filth and Wisdom] as well, and he said, “Oh, Madonna wants you in her film.”

‘Then I, sort of, put the phone down like (pulls a shocked expression), then I got a phone call from her team and… yeah. It was a real thing!’

Eager to know more, naturally, Ben quizzed her on what the experience was like.

Describing it as ‘surreal’, Vicky’s eyes wandered to a photo shown on the screen of her with Madonna.

In true 2008 style, she was dressed in an unusual print, pairing a long t-shirt with leggings and brown boots.

‘Oh, look at that outfit I chose!’, she said, horrified. ‘Can we just acknowledge that? If you do a full shot, you’ll see the baggy brown boots.

‘Anyway, that’s what I arrived to Berlin in!’

‘It was just surreal,’ she continued. ‘I went to see Madonna last year in concert, I’ve always been a fan.’

Tipping Point presenter Ben asked if she has stayed in touch with Madonna.

‘We did for a bit. I went to a couple of her birthday parties which felt very special and surreal.

‘But yeah, she’s a busy woman.’

Following that, Vicky was pressed on the future of Line of Duty because, well, it’d be criminal not to ask her.

Alas, she didn’t have much to give away.

She is, however, totally down for Madonna playing ‘M’ in a revival.

‘That would be epic!’, said the Trigger Point actress.

Vicky then said she’s still in regular contact with her co-stars, having seen Adrian Dunbar this week ahead of his theatre show.

Meanwhile, Martin Compston rocked up to Day Fever, Vicky’s daytime disco business for adults aged 30+.

‘He did a bit of crowd surfing for us! He likes a party!

Vicky acknowledged that there will ‘always be rumours and expectations’ regarding the beloved crime series, adding: ‘We’ve all said we love the show and we would want to go again, obviously.

‘But, there is nothing to talk about. It’s really disappointing in terms of no news.’

Cat asked if ‘no news’ translated to good news, perhaps a reason for fans to be hopeful.

Playing extremely coy, Vicky then grabbed a cushion and placed it in front of her face to hide.

‘Were so lucky, we love the show and I can’t tell you how grateful we are,’ she said sweetly.

‘I never would’ve expected to be in something that has that kind of support from the audience. It’s amazing.’

Sadly, she would ‘hate to start a rumour’, so we’ll just have to sit tight for now…

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX.
