Bigi ‘Blanket’ Jackson rocked up on set for the highly-anticipated biopic Michael where he was seen throwing pillowcases down to fans below.

Bigi, 22, was born Prince Michael Jackson II and is the youngest of Michael Jackson’s three children. He has stayed out of the spotlight for most of his life but recently celebrated his directorial debut with short film, Rochelles.

The Thriller hitmaker’s son excited fans after reuniting with his siblings Paris, 26, and Prince, 27, while attending the preview for the London premier of MJ: The Musical in March.

Given the budding filmmaker’s low profile so far, his surprise appearance on set in LA for a London hotel scene in which he reportedly pretended to be his famous father marks a significant development in the film’s casting.

No further details are known yet.

Passers-by spotted a huge crowd of fans – seemingly waving mini flags – reaching their hands up to grab at the many pillowcases being launched from the window.

It is unclear exactly which aspect of his father’s life Bigi is recreating as he chucks the pillowcases over the balcony. However, the scene is particularly notable as Bigi was infamously dangled over a hotel balcony by Jackson as an infant.

After huge backlash from fans for the dangerous behaviour, Jackson admitted he ‘made a terrible mistake’.

‘I got caught up in the excitement of the moment. I would never intentionally endanger the lives of my children,’ he added at the time.

The cast for the Antoine Fuqua-directed film includes Jaafar Jackson (Jackson’s nephew) in the role of the legendary music artist.

Kat Graham stars as Diana Ross, Oscar nominee Colman Domingo as father Joe Jackson, Nia Long as mother Katherine and Miles Teller as entertainment lawyer John Branca.

The King of Pop’s life was also marred in controversy with child abuse allegations coming to life after his sudden death in 2009 from an overdose of propofol.

When asked about what the movie would cover, director Antoine said: ‘I’m gonna show you the facts as I know it, give you a better insight on Michael as an artist, as a human being—the good, bad, and the ugly—and let people decide for themselves on what they feel about Michael Jackson. That’s what I wanna do. I think it’s worthwhile.’

The latest surprise filming is not the only reason Bigi is making headlines.

In March, USA Today reported that court filings the publication obtained showed Bigi was suing his grandmother Katherine over her use of funds from his father’s estate to cover her legal costs.

This was after Katherine appealed a decision made by the court regarding the estate.

In recent weeks production companies Universal Pictures and Lionsgate released first-look images of Jaafar as the music artist, with many praising how similar he looks to his uncle.

In the image, Jaafar is singing on stage wearing a white button-down shirt, white v-neck and black trousers. He is also sporting Jackson’s trademark hair.

The photographer, Kevin Mazur, who used to photograph Jackson during his career, teased what to expect from Jaafar’s performance.

‘Seeing Jaafar perform, I thought, “Wow, it is Michael”,’ he said.

‘The way he looks and acts, his mannerisms, everything – he’s Michael Jackson. For anyone who didn’t have the chance to see Michael perform live during his lifetime – this is how it was.’

Michael is set to arrive in cinemas on April 28, 2025.
