A news anchor has gone viral after appearing to swallow a fly but carrying straight on with her live report.
Boston25 journalist Vanessa Welch has been caught suffering the blunder during a recent broadcast, and now viewers are insisting she ‘needs a raise’ after witnessing her professionalism.
Mid-way through her sentence, a small black object, that looks to be an insect, appeared on her eyelash, before falling down her face… and into her mouth.
As she continued speaking, Vanessa appeared to swallow whatever it was, and after a quick grimace realising what had happened, simply carried on.
Of course, viewers are stunned at the footage, shocked at what happened while praising Vanessa’s ability to ignore it.
‘Now she’s gonna have to swallow a spider to catch the fly,’ @thatmozzie laughed.
‘Not even fazed. Peak professionalism,’ @kittycarnage praised while @melodyraabbit said: ‘I have NEVER seen that level of professionalism DAMN.’

One of the top comments by @nathanhughes9 read: ‘For anyone trying to find out the name of the anchor, it’s Venus. Ms. Venus Flytrap.’
Other viewers however are hopeful that it wasn’t an insect, but a clump of her fake eyelashes.

@maiseylovesme explained: ‘Looks more like she is wearing individual strip lashes (like lashify) and one of them has detached and come off while blinking.’
@al_exx_is added: ‘It’s a lash cluster people don’t worry she’s not crying spiders. I hope.’
As shocking as it sounds, Vanessa, who has been anchoring Boston 25 News for eight years, isn’t the first reporter to swallow a fly on air.

In 2014, Sky News reporter Adam Boulton was momentarily lost for words when the same thing happened to him.
He was in the middle of talking about a Cabinet reshuffle, saying: ‘And certainly if we look at the changing complexion of this Cabinet compared to…’, before stopping short as he ingested the insect.
A concerned anchor in the Sky News studio was unaware of what had just happened and thought Mr Boulton could be tired, asking if he wanted to ‘take a pause’, but ever the professional, the Boulton & Co presenter continued his report outside Number 10 Downing Street.
‘No, I swallowed a fly, that’s alright – I’ve recovered now,’ he said.
