Disney fans were left stunned following Jeremy Irons’s performance of a classic song from The Lion King during a 30th anniversary concert.
The iconic animated movie was celebrated at the Hollywood Bowl last night with a live-to-film concert and screening that included cast members from on-screen and the theatre production.
Lolita actor Irons, 75, who voiced villain Scar in the 1994 hit film, took to the stage to treat attendees to a rendition of Be Prepared.
The epic performance saw him joined by a troupe of dancers dressed as Scar’s hyena cronies, with fans taking to social media to share how ‘incredible’ the spectacle was.
‘Jeremy Irons is here at the Hollywood Bowl singing “Be Prepared” for the Lion King 30th Anniversary, I am D E A D,’ Ryan Aguirre posted on X, alongside a video of his rendition.
In another post, he added: ‘The Lion King 30th Anniversary Concert was easily one of the best shows I’ve ever seen at the Hollywood Bowl?? An amazing night.’

Erica Carazza Farris added: ‘He sounds exactly the same! This is FANTASTIC. I can’t stop watching it!’
Anu B said Irons could ‘He could read the back of a shampoo bottle’ and they would still be ‘mesmerised.’
Others dubbed him the real ‘King of Price Rock’ while others pointed out this was an ‘iconic comeback’ for the actor as he did not sing all of the original song in the film, and was instead joined by Jim Cummings to hit certain notes.
Nick J. wrote: ‘My man finally got to finish singing the song he couldn’t do back then. What a comeback, no wonder he is the king of pride rock.’
The mammoth concert also saw Jennifer Hudson singing Can You Feel The Love Tonight, and Heather Headley performing Shadowland.

Other stars that hit the stage included Nathan Lane, Billy Eichner, Ernie Sabella, and Bradley Gibson to perform the classic musical numbers written by Elton John and Tim Rice.
The initial film received critical acclaim, finishing its theatrical run as the highest-grossing film of 1994 and the highest-grossing animated film of all time, before being beaten by Finding Nemo in 2003.
It received two Academy Awards and the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, inspiring sequels, TV series, video games, a stage adaptation, and a live-action remake in 2019.
A prequel story, Mufasa: The Lion King, is set to hit our screens this year, telling the story of the King of Pride Rock, brother of Scar, and Simba’s father ahead of his fateful death.
Beyonce will reprise her role as Nala beside Aaron Pierre, who is taking over voicing duties for the titular character.
Barry Jenkins will be directing the project, while Lin-Manuel Miranda has penned original songs for the soundtrack.
