Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford have recently announced they are divorcing after 14 years of marriage, and while it may have come as a shock to some, there were some signs.
Since a spokesperson for Eamonn and Ruth, both aged 64, confirmed the news with a statement that read: ‘Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing,’ fans have begun scouring the internet for clues that they may have missed.
Some sources have claimed that their relationship began deteriorating in 2021 after a long history together. The couple began dating in 1997 before eventually marrying in 2010. They share a son – Jack, 22 – together, and Eamonn has children Declan, Rebecca and Niall with his first wife Gabrielle, who he split from in 1994.
Let’s take a look at the signs that it was over before the official confirmation…

The pair were reportedly living separate lives for years before their split, which began after a major change in their careers.
The pair were replaced on This Morning after 15 years by Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary, who took over presenting the Friday episode of the show.
‘Eamonn and Ruth’s relationship changed when they left This Morning. They started moving in different directions in their careers and their priorities started to change,’ a source told The Sun.
Ruth continued working with ITV on Loose Women, while Eamonn now works as an anchor on GB News.
‘As her ITV career continued, Eamonn went down another path and they became ships in the night,’ the source continued.
‘For the past two years they had led separate lives, professionally and personally.’

Eamonn has faced difficult times over the past few years – his mum Josie died in 2022 aged 93, and he has endured multiple health issues.
The presenter is recovering from double hip replacement surgery and an injury to his shoulder. He has been seen using a walking crutch since 2021 after he slipped three discs in his back.
In 2022, he revealed that he lost ‘full mobility’ and Ruth was honest about how ‘testing’ it had been.
‘I don’t know how much Eamonn’s mobility will improve. We live in hope,’ Ruth told Woman’s Weekly.

‘He does the physio, but there might have to be some acceptance that this might never be 100% right.
‘With any care situation – and there are millions of carers in this country – it isn’t always easy. It’s testing but we manage as a family.’
Eamonn told The Mirror: ‘Ruth’s not a particularly tolerant person but my god I’m so indebted to her. She’s from an army family and she just gets on with it, she’s a tour de force.’
Despite, the end of their romantic relationship Ruth has been continuing to care for Eamonn, and the pair reportedly intend to remain friends.
Spending time at different homes

Eamonn is said to have spent more time in his native Belfast, which meant being away from the Surrey martial home. Loose Women panellist Ruth’s desire to not move to Ireland is said to have become a ‘bone of contention’.
He previously revealed Ruth gets annoyed that he doesn’t consider Surrey to be his home.
‘When people ask me what I’m doing at the weekend, I tell them I’m going home. Then my wife gets very irritated by this. She says, “This is your home.” And I say, “No Ruth, this is where I work. This is where I have to be,”‘ he told The Mirror.

The pair both regularly post updates about their lives on social media to keep their fans up to date with their current projects and personal lives.
In recent times there has been a notable absence of each other on the Instagram grids. Their last post together was in July 2022, when the pair promoted Eamonn’s inclusion in her fitness, fashion, beauty and lifestyle event, Feeling Fabulous.
Since the divorce announcement, both parties are back on Instagram but they’ve avoided directly addressing the news.
