A new promotional video for Black Ops 6 confirms that it’s set during the 1991 Gulf War as a very brief clip of Zombies mode is revealed.

Long before a new Call Of Duty is officially announced you usually find that all the details have already been leaked out ahead of time. This year has been a little different, in that relatively little was known about Black Ops 6 before it was announced last week, except that it’s set during the Gulf War.

Technically that still hasn’t been confirmed but a promotional video sent to a prominent Call Of Duty streamer makes it clear that the setting is 1991 (the war lasted until February of that year), with a few shots of what appears to be desert warfare.

The video also includes shots of President Clinton playing the saxophone, Iraq dictator Saddam Hussein, and a very unsubtle reference to Frank Woods from the previous games – implying he’s probably in this one too.

Activision sent the video to Call Of Duty NoahJ456 and at the very end it also includes a 1 second gameplay clip of what appears to be Zombies mode.

There’s obviously not a lot that can be gleaned from such a short clip, but it does show one of the characters sliding and shooting at the same time, which is presumably something you’ll be able to do in the game yourself.

Developer Treyarch is the original creator of Zombies mode, so it’s expected to be given a lot of prominence in Black Ops 6 – especially as the concept has seemed to be running out of steam in recent years.

The first full trailer for Black Ops 6 is not expected to be revealed until June 9 at the Xbox Games Showcase, although dataminers predict that even that will only last 58 seconds.

A Black Ops 6 preview of almost 30 minutes is scheduled for the same day as the Xbox Games Showcase, so the 58 second trailer may be some kind of teaser for that. Either way you shouldn’t be short of Call Of Duty info next month.

One key question is whether the game will be released on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 but a listing for the latter at US retailer GameStop seems to confirm that the game will be cross-gen – which isn’t too surprising and may make a Switch 2 port viable next year.

Subtlety has never been a Call Of Duty speciality (Twitter)
