‘Cuter than the actual ones!’ Disney fans rave over Asda’s Loungefly dupe that’s almost £68 cheaper than the original

THEY’RE some of the most collectable Disney items around.

But Loungefly bags certainly don’t come cheap – with even the smallest costing around £80 new.

So it’s no wonder Disney fans are racing to Asda for a new dupe that some people are labelling “cuter than the actual ones”.

Katie took to TikTok to share a video of the find, after coming across the super-cute £12 backpacks in her local supermarket.

“Disney Loungefly dupe in Asda!” she wrote over the top of her clip.

The bag – called the Disney Classics Character Rucksack on the George website – features the faces of some of the most beloved Disney characters.

Alongside Dumbo, Simba and the Cheshire Cat, there’s Peter Pan, one of the 101 Dalmatians, Lady and the Tramp, Pumbaa from The Lion King and Marie from The Aristocats.

The backpack is done up with a zip, and has pretty iridescent silver handles.

People were quick to comment on the video, with one writing: “That is actually really cute!”

“I just had to buy this straight away!” another admitted.

“We need to find this tonight,” a third commented, tagging a friend.

“How cute is this!” someone else wrote.

“I completely forgot about loungefly and just seen they have a shrek bag,” another added.

“I’m in love with it!

“I’m Shrek obsessed as well as Disney!”

“Some of the Asda Loungefly dupes are cuter then the actual ones,” someone else said.

“Literally!” Katie replied.

Loungefly started in Southern California in 1998, creating licensed fashion accessories for all ages.

The company was purchased by Funko in May 2019, after a number of years trying to work out a deal.

Now Loungefly is most famous for its Disney offerings, although they do also sell other licensed items too – such as Marvel, Hello Kitty and Harry Potter.

Ways to spend less in a supermarket

Grocery inflation means we’re all feeling the pinch but shopping with these points in mind could save you hundreds of pounds a year:

Avoid shopping at convenience stores – they charge more
Ask in-store at what times in the day are fresh food items reduced
Freeze yellow sticker items where you can
Plan meals ahead
Try own-label of budget brand alternatives
Use unit pricings to find the best deals

The bags are typically made from faux vinyl, with the mini backpack the most popular size.

And when it comes to their collectability, it usually depends on how many of that bag design was made.

However, you can tell if your Loungefly was made before the company was bought by Funko by checking to see if there’s the iconic Funko crown on the metal plaque on the front of the bag.

Loungefly bags released before the Funko takeover often have a heart instead of a Funko crown, and some of the original Disney ones can fetch up to £1,000.
