Home Alone may be a Christmas staple for families across the world – but not for one of its stars.
Daniel Stern, who played thief Marv Murchins in the original 1990 film and its sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York two years later, admitted he has only watched the classic festive film once.
The 66-year-old said he gets ‘sick’ of the movies he stars in once he has completed filming and moves on to his next project without a second thought – with Home Alone being no exception.
The City Slickers actor made the surprising admission while being interviewed by Richard Madeley, 69, and Charlotte Hawkins, 49, on today’s Good Morning Britain about his new memoir, Home And Alone.
He told ITV viewers: ‘It was funny because when I wrote the book, and I was writing about the tarantula scene, I wrote out how I remembered it, what happened and what was funny and then my daughter read the book for me and said, “That’s not what happens in the movie” and I went, “Oh” and I had to go back and watch the scene again to see how it actually went.
‘Once I’m done with the movie, I’m kinda done with the movie – for me personally. I love that other people watch it but I’m kinda sick of it.’

However, Daniel described Home Alone as the ‘blessing of a lifetime’ and said he is often stopped in the streets by fans of the franchise.
He said: ‘Since the movie came out, I go through my life with people saying “We love you, we watch you, you’re a big part of my holiday” and it’s so overwhelming sometimes. I don’t know why it’s happened but it’s a blessing of a lifetime.’
Daniel also dished the dirt on a wild night he spent $7,000 (£5,480) in a bar on Donald Trump’s credit card when the former US president made a cameo in Home Alone 2.
He recalled: ‘I had met him that day on the shoot and that night, me and the stunt guys and some crew guys were at the hotel bar and Mr Trump walked through.

He also recounted racking up a huge bill on Trump’s credit card (Picture: James Devaney/GC Images)
‘He pointed and was very appreciative and said, “Drinks are on me” and so we bought drinks for the entire bar, for the entire night.
‘We hit him pretty good on the bill. Liam, my stunt guy, we figured it was about 7000 bucks which is a drop in the bucket to the man and he felt good about it, we felt good about it so that was a win-win.’
It comes after the iconic house from Daniel’s Home Alone films was put up for sale for $5.25million (£4.11m).
The five-bedroom, six-bathroom property, located in the Winnetka area of Chicago, Illinois, was actually used as the exterior for the film – and the 1992 sequel.

But fear not potential buyers, the home looks completely different now – with no traces of Marv’s dastardly traps, the awkwardly-placed statue in the driveway, that creepy tarantula or that red and green wallpaper adorning all the walls.
Daniel starred alongside the likes of Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci and John Heard in the first two Home Alone films.
In the iconic original film, the family left their youngest son, Kevin (Macaulay), at home by himself while jetting off to Paris for the festive period, unwittingly forcing him to take on two burglars by himself.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV and ITVX.
