The Masked Singer presenter Joel Dommett has been unveiled as the temporary host of Lorraine.

The comedian, 38, will be stepping into the Scottish broadcaster’s shoes layer this week while she takes a mini-break from hosting duties.

Confirming he would be filling in for Lorraine, Joel told The Mirror: ‘I can’t believe I’m going on Lorraine for two days!

‘I love being a guest and I’m so excited to be temporarily filling her wonderful shoes.

‘It’s the comfiest seat on telly by far so I can’t wait to sit on it for a full hour. Tune in for some wholesome morning niceness.’

Joel also got Lorraine’s seal of approval – with the ITV presenter staring she was certain he would do a ‘wonderful job.’

She enthused: ‘I’m so happy we can unmask Joel as the host of my show on Thursday and Friday of this week. He will be keeping my sofa warm for me whilst I’m away.

‘This is a first for Joel and I know he’ll do a wonderful job. He’s one of the best in the business and I couldn’t be more pleased to be handing him the reins for a couple of days.’

Lorraine’s break comes as she waits to become a grandmother for the first time.Her daughter Rosie Smith, who she shares with husband Steve Smith, is expecting a baby girl.

Speaking previously o Hello! Magazine about the impending arrival in September,the 64-year-old said: ‘This is the most exciting thing to happen to our family, well, since Rosie was born.

‘Last night, I felt the baby kick for the first time, which was extraordinary. It made it feel real.’

During her talk show earlier this month, Lorraine also revealed she was calling her granddaughter Tallulah Belle, despite knowing that won’t be her name.

Speaking about the impending arrival, she said: ‘I’m calling her that in my head but don’t think she will be called that but it will be great because we will have my granny, my mum, me, Rosie and the wee tiny baby and we will have to take a photo with that.’

‘She is six months now and is absolutely blooming.’

Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV and ITVX.
