Fortnite may have been the game that propelled Ninja to fame but it sounds like he’s quickly falling out of love with it this season.
Ninja is one of the most well known livestreamers in the world and has been playing Fortnite since it first launched in 2017. It’s still the game he plays the most today, but it seems he’s not happy with the current season.
Over the years, Ninja has developed strong opinions about the games that he’s spent countless hours in. Recently, he described players of Call Of Duty as ‘disgusting and mentally abused’ when discussing last year’s controversial Modern Warfare 3.
This time Fortnite is in his crosshairs, as Ninja condemns the introduction of vehicles, arguing that the new feature will make the game less confrontational and puts too much importance on which vehicle you have.
The most recent season in Fortnite adds new mods to make vehicles more powerful, including a machinegun turret and grenade launcher. It also introduces the resource Nitro, which makes you or your vehicle faster and even lets you destroy builds as you smash into them.
Ninja is no fan, as he explains: ‘We’re going to land in the middle of nowhere, we’re going to loot up, we’re going to find a vehicle, we’re going to f****** not attack anyone.
‘And then we’re going to play like the biggest f****** losers in the world, because this season is absolute dog f****** water,’ he says, and adds:
‘If I was a five-year-old that still loved cool cars I would be having the time of my life. […] I’m a 32-year-old grown man who likes to shoot things in video games, and now I have to drive a vehicle around and pray that I run into people that have a worse vehicle than me.’
At another point in the livestream Ninja gets downed by a vehicle with a machinegun turret, and tells his fans he’s had enough.
‘Yeah, I will not be playing this season,’ he says, insisting that he will be playing Valorant and League Of Legends instead, for the next few months.
‘I’m not joking. I just got killed in three seconds by a vehicle, by a turret, by a guy just literally seat-swapping. I didn’t have a car to run away, so I died. […] It feels like you’re playing a different game right now,’ he says.

Vehicles have been a part of Fortnite for years, starting off as drivable shopping trolleys, but becoming more elaborate over time, until now when you can add different weapons to numerous vehicles that spawn around the map.
Ninja does have a point, in that it has certainly changed how Fortnite is played, but every season has its gimmicks, needed to keep the game fresh, and vehicles are unlikely to be the focus again for a while after this.
