After facing years of snarky comments about her weight and the lengths she went to to maintain it, Victoria Beckham has shared that she has become more accepting of her appearance.

Posh Spice, 50, said that while she is disciplined with the way she eats, she thinks life is too short not to indulge in things like a glass of wine from time to time.

She recently graced the cover of Grazia magazine in a blazer and lacy bra, revealing her toned abs.

In the interview for the magazine, she shared that while body image issues used to stop her from fully enjoying her life, she now has a better relationship with her body.

She said: ‘You just become more accepting, don’t you? This is how I look. I’m going to make the best of it, work hard at it. I’m very disciplined with the way that I eat, the way that I work out and the way I work.

‘That’s just who I am. But I do like to have a drink and I’m not going to be one these, “Ah, there are too many calories in a glass of wine” types. Whatever. Life’s too short. Let’s have a nice time.’

The singer turned fashion designer has certainly faced plenty of scrutiny for her weight over the years, even once being talked into weighing herself live on air by a talk show host.

She told Vogue Australia of the incident: ‘I went on a TV show with Chris Evans many years ago and I’d just had Brooklyn and lost a lot of weight after.

‘It happened to my mum after her pregnancies. It doesn’t mean you have an eating disorder. And he made me stand on the scales to be weighed. Can you imagine doing that nowadays?’

Moments like these profoundly affected her. She told Grazia: ‘I never want to look like I’m complaining, but there were times in the past that I haven’t felt confident enough to sit on a beach and watch my children play.’

Now, while the mom of four has become more relaxed about her approach to food, she’s as controlling as ever about her businesses.

‘I wanted to take the control back and literally create it myself. I didn’t want to have to trust or rely on anybody else to get it right,’ she said.

She also opened up about her social media use, saying of how she comes across online: ‘I’m a real girl’s girl and I think that comes across […] The other thing is that for so long people had this opinion of me that I was this steely-faced ice queen because of the paparazzi pictures and the story that the media would paint.

‘Through social media, people now see that that’s not me. I like to laugh at myself. There’s always humour in what we do.’
