Declyn Lauper, son of pop icon Cyndi Lauper, finds himself embroiled in serious legal trouble once again.

An anonymous woman has filed a civil lawsuit against Declyn, also known as Dex, accusing him of a sexual assault that allegedly happened four years ago.

The lawsuit, obtained by The Mirror, alleges that the 26 year old ‘negligently, wantonly, recklessly, intentionally, and knowingly sought to and did sexually assault and sexually abuse Plaintiff,’ citing a violation of New York City’s Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Law.

This is not the first time Lauper’s son has faced legal trouble. Declyn, who the Girls Just Want To Have Fun singer shares with her husband, David Thornton, was arrested in connection with a shooting in New York earlier this year.

He was also taken into police custody in 2022 when he was found inside a stolen car.

Now, Declyn is facing perhaps his most serious accusation yet. The accuser claims that after going over to Declan’s apartment, he took away her cell phone, held her down, and tried to force her to perform a sexual act.

The plaintiff, ‘repeatedly told Mr. Lauper to let her get up because he was too strong, but he refused,’ the suit specifies.

It continues, saying that Declyn allegedly: ‘forcibly smother[ed] his genitals over Jane Doe’s mouth, as Jane Doe warned him that she would bite him’ and placed her teeth there, the lawsuit states.

She further alleges that he verbally abused her with slurs after the physical assault.

Afterwards, Declyn tried to apologise while she waited for a car to pick her up. Despite his attempts to contact her afterward, the plaintiff never saw him again.

‘The emotional and psychological damage to Jane Doe from the attack cannot be overstated: it has been profound and lasting,’ states the lawsuit, reportedly.

The plaintiff also spoke to the New York Post, expressing her fear and distress: ‘After the assault, that’s when I went into a panic. I felt like my life was really in danger at that point.’

The plaintiff is a 28-year-old insurance broker who had been dating Declyn for approximately nine months, beginning in February 2020, at the time of the assault according to the Post.

She is seeking compensatory damages for physical injuries, emotional distress, humiliation, and more, as well as punitive damages to deter Declyn from future misconduct.

Currently, Declyn is also facing a lawsuit from his landlord over a rent-stabilized apartment in New York. Reportedly, Declyn’s landlord has listed numerous alleged breaches of the lease, including aggressive yelling and threats of bodily harm emanating from Declyn’s unit, as well as a significant sum of unpaid rent.

The landlord claims that Declyn continued to occupy the apartment after his lease expired and is seeking his eviction along with other residents.
