Britain’s Got Talent viewers believe they’ve figured out the real reason behind Bruno Tonioli being ‘booed’ during the live shows.

After weeks of auditions, the competition is now down to the pointy end, with five semi-finals airing this week to decide the acts for this weekend’s final.

So far Innocent Masuku, the Ssaulabi Performance Troupe, Haribow and Jack Rhodes have already made it through their semi-finals, with another three to go over the next three nights.

However, those watching on at home have been left confused after believing judge Bruno, 68, was facing some backlash.

Despite offering praise to the acts, the former Strictly Come Dancing judge appeared to get a frosty reception from the Hammersmith Apollo audience during the long-running ITV show’s second semi-final, which aired on Tuesday night.

‘Are people booing Bruno? Sounds like boos every time he talks,’ viewer David posted on X.

‘Why were some of the audience boo Bruno?’ Mathew questioned.

‘Is it me or is Bruno getting boos every time he speaks?’ Gemma added.

As user Miles wrote: ‘Do people hate or love Bruno because I hear the crowd booing but then they go wild after he talks??? Me personally, I absolutely adore him. He’s the human incarnation of sunshine and optimism. I think he’s lovely!!! He’s very passionate.’

However, replying to these comments, others said they think they knew what was actually happening.

‘We are so confused can’t work out what’s going on! Thought they were maybe chanting Bruuuno,’ Neil considered.

‘No think they’re saying Bruuuunooo!!’ Luke wrote.

However, Edward managed to clear things up.

‘They were shouting “Bruno! Bruno!” – I was in the actual audience so it probably sounded clearer than watching on TV, but I agree, it was annoying,’ he explained.

However, another judge, Alesha Dixon, did find herself at odds with the crowd after giving her feedback to shadow act Matteo Fraziano.

‘I loved your audition, but I have to be honest, it didn’t really set me on fire tonight. It just left me feeling a little bit flat,’ to which the crowd erupted into boos and started drowning her out as she tried to speak.

The noises were so loud that Simon Cowell had to wait to speak, turning around before himself being met with cheers when he said he’d loved the performance.

Britain’s Got Talent live semi-finals will air each day until Friday at 8pm, with Sunday’s final at 7.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
