Microsoft may have signed the next game from the directors behind the Batman: Arkham trilogy, which is described as an AAA single-player action adventure title.
Between Redfall and Starfield, in recent years Xbox hasn’t had the best run when it comes to AAA platform exclusives, but the company appears to have backed a promising new studio for a future project.
The developer in question is London-based Hundred Star Games, which was created by former Rocksteady co-founders Jamie Walker and Sefton Hill. Rocksteady is best known for the acclaimed Batman: Arkham trilogy, along with the recently released (and considerably less acclaimed) Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League.
The duo both left Rocksteady in 2022 to start a ‘new adventure in games’, just over a year prior to the launch of Suicide Squad – suggesting there may have been some behind-the-scenes trouble. Now, we have some details about what the pair’s next venture is.
According to eXputer, who previously leaked images of the as-yet unannounced white Xbox Series X, Hundred Star Games is working on a AAA single-player action adventure game built in Unreal Engine 5.
The project is said to be financed by Xbox Game Studios, implying it will be a platform exclusive across Xbox and PC – although this could change in light of the company’s recent multiplatform shift.
Hundred Star Games is yet to be officially announced, but Walker and Hill are both listed as the studio’s directors in a listing on corporate data website Endole. The studio also has an official website, and is hiring for various positions.
A listing on the Great Place To Work website describes Hundred Star Games as a start-up consisting of ‘only 100 industry veterans and emerging talents, who are committed to crafting cutting-edge gaming experiences that inspire and captivate players worldwide’.
‘With innovation at our core, we’re dedicated to pushing boundaries, embracing diversity, and fostering a vibrant gaming community,’ the listing adds. ‘Our empowering company culture is unique to the industry which encourages leadership at all levels, accountability, team support, vulnerability, and connection.’

It’s believed over 20 employees at Hundred Star Games are ex-Rocksteady devs, according to the eXputer report.
While Microsoft has not officially announced this partnership yet, this sounds like the sort of team-up which could be revealed at the upcoming Xbox showcase on June 9 – especially as Microsoft has a knack for announcing projects many years before they actually materalise, like the reboots of Fable and Perfect Dark.
Let’s hope it’s better than Suicide Squad (Warner Bros.)
