Things are heating up between Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron if the trailer for their new rom-com, A Family Affair, is anything to go by.

The pair are set to lead the way in the seriously steamy new Netflix flick, which is released on the platform next month.

Zac, 36, is appearing as movie star Chris Cole, who gets involved with his put-upon assistant Zara’s (Joey King) mother, Brooke – aka Nicole, 56.

In the first teaser, they are seen getting very intimate in the bedroom when a shocked Zara accidentally walks in on them, causing a series of screams and a painful injury.

‘After two years of being his assistant, I know him very well,’ she fumes. ‘He’s self-absorbed and selfish.

‘He’s going to hurt her, and I will have to kill him.’

The warnings don’t seem to work with her mother, as Brooke falls deeper for the movie star, thanks to some ‘sexcapades’ and very swanky dates.

‘I love being your mother more than anything in this world but I am starting to feel things that I never thought I would feel again,’ she tells her daughter.

‘Not since your father…’

Will their relationship work out, or will it all come crashing down?

Thankfully we don’t have long until we can find out, as the Family Affair will premiere on Netflix on June 28.

The official synopsis reads: ‘A surprising romance kicks off comic consequences for a young woman, her mother and her movie star boss as they face the complications of love, sex, and identity.’

Zac previously lifted the lid on his racy scenes, admitting that he was nervous to star opposite Hollywood heavyweight Nicole once again.

The pair previously shared the screen in The Paperboy – and their characters were also intimate – but this is slightly more upbeat than the 2012 gritty drama.

Speaking to People Magazine, he teased that their chemistry is ‘seamless, natural and fun’.

‘I was still a bit apprehensive but reuniting with Nicole is always so great and as talented as she as an actress, she is equally kind, caring and wonderful to spend time with,’ he praised.

Joey, whose character was thrown into the middle of the entanglement, raved about her time on set while chatting to Netflix’s Tudum, admitting she was ‘intimated’ by Zac at first.

‘It’s always intimidating at first to work with someone who you’ve followed for so long,’ she added. ‘But I had nothing to worry about truly.

‘Zac is a golden retriever to be honest. He’s like the best hype man, every scene we did he was just the easiest person to bounce ideas off of because he was down to try anything and was always so supportive. I love that guy.’

A Family Affair lands on Netflix on June 28.
