Two BBC series’ hosted by a Strictly Come Dancing star have quietly been shelved after five years.

First hitting screens in 2019, Your Home Made Perfect used virtual reality and technology to show people what their dream homes would look like before they underwent construction in real life.

The designers used photo-real virtual reality technology and visual effects to pitch their designs to families who had fallen out of love with their homes.

In each episode the homeowners had to then choose just one of the architect’s visions to build.

Hosted by Angela Scanlon, the show ran for four seasons and last aired in August last year.

It was also followed by a spin-off series, Your Garden Made Perfect, in 2021.

However, the national broadcaster has now confirmed both won’t be returning.

In a statement to Metro.co.uk, a spokesperson said: ‘At present there are no plans for another series of either programme.’

The Irish presenter, 40, initially broadcast on Irish television, presenting a number of programmes on RTÉ.

In 2015 she joined The One Show as a reporter and presented when Alex Jones was away.

Angela then undertook her first role on a major British show as a co-host of Robot Wars with Dara Ó Briain from 2016 until 2018.

Then, last year, she joined the 21st season of Strictly, where she was partnered with professional dancer Carlos Gu and finished in sixth place.

Earlier this week Angela appeared on Loose Women and spoke about suffering from eating disorders for 15 years.

The presenter reflected that she struggled ‘for 15 years, from my late teens or early 20s’ and said she was in a ‘bad place.’

‘It can sometimes feel really bleak. It’s not spoken about very often and it can be very secretive, it’s not very obvious,’ she told the hosts.

‘Often they go in cycles, It’s not necessarily one or the other,’ she said explaining that she suffered from different eating disorders, both bulimia and anorexia.

She went on to say she was only able to come out of the other side of the illness after a revelation from a friend.

‘For me, one of the turning points was a friend of mine, who also suffered, saying “we are just going to have this forever.” And to her, it felt like a comforting, support in numbers. But for me, I really kicked against that notion of having to stay in that very small space for a long time.’

Metro.co.uk has contacted representatives for Angela Scanlon for comment.

Your Home Made Perfect is streaming on BBC iPlayer.
