Daisy Ridley has revealed she hasn’t recovered from a chest injury she suffered while filming her latest project.
The actress, best known for playing Rey in the Star Wars sequel trilogy: The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, is now starring in the biographical drama Young Woman and the Sea.
The movie tells the story of Gertrude Ederle, an American swimming champion, who first won a gold medal at the 1924 Olympic Games.
In 1926, Ederle became the first woman to swim 21 miles across the English Channel.
The role unsurprisingly required Daisy, 32, to spend lots of time in water however it also left her with some health problems.
At the premiere of the movie in London this week, Daisy told Metro.co.uk at she faced multiple injuries whilst shooting in the water.

‘I spent many hours in the water and got osteomas which is a benign tumour in your ear drum, which happens a lot when you’re swimming or diving.
‘I hadn’t really done it before, so I think my ears were just adjusting.
‘I also pulled something in my chest that I’ve still not recovered from, but that wasn’t actually from swimming. It was from the scene where I’m pulled from the water and I’m hanging limp and lifeless and I haven’t recovered from that, but it was worth it.’
The actress also compared her experience to Halle Bailey, who starred as Ariel in the live-action remake of the Disney classic, The Little Mermaid.

Halle would reportedly spend up to 13 hours under water a day whilst shooting, something Daisy admitted she had ‘no idea’ how they managed.
This week Daisy also explained how her career success affected her health after starring in Star Wars.
Despite it being a massive career milestone, in 2015 she also felt significant anxiety and stress after becoming the face of the franchise, and the attention that came with it.
‘Essentially, it was a leaky gut,’ she began, explaining how she was ‘just knackered’ while promoting the film.

‘I’d never travelled that much, or done press junkets, and my body deals with stress in a very physical way, so my gut was manifesting an emotional reaction to travelling around the world, people saying hello to me in the street. And me going, “What’s going on?” And worrying,’ she told The Times.
The actress then became worried she might not have been the right pick for the role and pheraps wasn’t ‘good enough’.
But by the time the third film was released in 2019 she accepted she was ‘chosen for a reason’.
Earlier this year it was revealed that Daisy would reprise the role of Rey for a new Star Wars movie, written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.
