The risk of switching platforms would take a lot more than £8 million per year for Dr Disrespect to consider moving from YouTube to Kick.
Livestreaming can be an incredibly lucrative job if you make it to the very top, as seen when xQc signed a deal worth $100 million (£78 million) to stream on Twitch rival Kick last year.
It’s not all about the money though, and that’s the wrong way to look at it, UK content creator SoupforEloise told us when she opened up about what it takes to be a streamer. That seems to be what Dr Disrespect was thinking too when he turned down a huge offer to move from YouTube to Kick last year.
Dr Disrespect now reveals that he turned down an offer of $10 million (£7.8 million) per year, saying it’s not worth it to start a new channel elsewhere, but that there is a much bigger number that would see him make the move.
Around the time xQc signed the £78 million deal with Kick, Dr Disrespect said he wanted $50 million (£39 million) to stream on Kick.
Discussions about a deal started between the streamer and Kick soon after, but nothing materialised and Dr Disrespect remains on YouTube to this day.
During a recent stream, Dr Disrespect finally spoke in detail about the offer he received, saying: ‘They had a gracious number. $10 million per year, zero gambling, but it’s just not enough.’
He added: ‘I appreciate the $10 million offer per year, Kick. That’s what they offered and I’m very humbled, but the number is $50 million. I’m not budging from that one. $50 million and you get the Two-Time, if not I’m not interested in moving. Community is too strong here. We’re established. Numbers are just outrageous.’
Kick would like to have Dr Disrespect on its platform, but head of strategic partnerships, Andrew Santamaria, recently dismissed the possibility of paying that much money, saying: ‘He tweeted at us after we signed xQc that he wanted $50 million, and yeah…’ adding, ‘He’s an amazing streamer, but we need to ground things in reality.’

xQc’s £78 million deal is partly why Dr Disrespect is asking for such a big number as well, but he also doesn’t want to move again because that means building a new channel from scratch on a separate platform.
He already did that in 2020, when he was mysteriously banned from Twitch and had to start over again on YouTube, which he claims cost him lucrative sponsorships with Nike and Oakley.
Dr Disrespect is very much back on his feet now though, streaming in front of thousands on YouTube where he has 4.7 million subscribers.
