Dave Bautista officially wins at Throwback Thursday after he shared the most unrecognisable snap from his teenage years.

The WWE legend turned Hollywood actor left fans doing a double – and triple – take as he took to Instagram armed with an old picture.

In the upload, the 55-year-old could be seen posing on a balcony in a pair of red shorts, with the sea behind him and none of his trademark tattoos in sight.

‘Throwing it back to 16-year-old me, beach bod and all. Nice view! #ThrowbackThursday,’ he captioned the post.

Unsurprisingly, fans couldn’t get over the image, and shared their shock over his transformation in the comments below, questioning whether the picture was legit.

Kendrickaluu replied: ‘I do not see Dave Bautista in that man.’

You_all_are_sheep agreed: ‘No way this is the same dude lol.’

B_j.0hn suggested: ‘I’m not convinced….. He is a different person.’

As Iamtraveller_365 added: ‘You got every number on the genetic lottery.’

Many also shared their suggestions of who young Dave resembled – with Eminem, Ashton Kutcher, Tom Cruise, Roger Federer and The Sopranos-era Michael Imperioli all being name-dropped.

The actor first stepped into the spotlight thanks to his efforts in the ring, signing a developmental contract with WWE in 2000.

He commanded attention and soon became one of the biggest stars in the industry, but left WWE behind in 2010 to focus on his hopes of becoming an actor.

Thanks to roles in Marvel blockbusters including the Avengers: Endgame, the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, Dune, Glass Onion and Knock at the Cabin, he has managed to effortlessly cross the line into Hollywood.

However, there is one particular role that Dave is still hoping to land – even though he isn’t sure he can do it.

‘I know I’m not your typical rom-com lead,’ he said in a chat with PageSix.

‘I’m a little rough around the edges. But I always, you know, I look in the mirror and I say, I ask myself, “Am I that unattractive? Is there something that unappealing about me that excludes me from these parts?”

‘I don’t know. It’s just never come my way. I’ve never had an offer to do a rom-com. I still have high hopes. I’ll just keep searching.’
