In addition to the upcoming film adaptation, Minecraft fans will soon get an animated series based on the beloved game.
Netflix recently announced it’s making a Minecraft show that is ‘coming soon’.
Despite celebrating its 15th birthday this month, Minecraft is still as popular as ever. Last year, developer Mojang made that abundantly clear when it shared that it had sold 300 million copies, making Minecraft the best-selling video game of all time.
As a result of this success, and the recent trend of making video games into hit TV shows and film – such as Fallout, The Last Of Us and The Super Mario Bros. Movie – Netflix has announced it wants to get in on the action.
Netflix confirmed that it’s making a Minecraft animated series that is ‘coming soon’, with a short teaser trailer.
The 20 second trailer starts off with the infamous Creeper blowing itself up, before the camera takes us into the lava-filled Nether where the Netflix ‘N’ is on show.
As it’s the teaser trailer, there is no mention of a release date for the series – or any other details for that matter.
What is known is that the TV show will be produced by both Netflix and Mojang and will feature a new story with new characters.
Fans will have to wait a while though, as although the trailer says ‘coming soon’, it’s seems unlikely that it’s in the next year or two, as Netflix and Mojang have just now confirmed they’re working on it.
