This Morning star Sian Welby has come under fire misgendering Chrishell Stause’s non-binary spouse.

The Selling Sunset star, 42, has recently hit headlines after it was revealed that she’s joined the cast of Neighbours.

The actress is heading Down Under and making her debut on Ramsay Street as businesswoman Yasmine ‘Yas’ Shields, with filming to begin in July.

Chrishell began dating singer G Flip a few years ago – who is from Australia – with the pair confirming they were married in a secret Las Vegas ceremony in May last year and have plans for children in their future.

Discussing the Netflix star’s upcoming soap stint, Sian explained on Thursday’s This Morning: ‘She’s made this massive announcement that she is joining the cast of Ramsay Street in Neighbours.’

‘One of the theories behind her joining the cast is that she got married last year to an Aussie, and it’s maybe like, is she doing this to make the move closer to his family and go back to Melbourne?’

Viewers were quick to notice her mistake, with Debbie correcting: ‘“His” family?? G-Flips pronouns are they/them.’

Lauren fumed: ‘Sian is so terrible at this, I think you’ll find Chrishell married G Flip who is a they and she would know this is if she actually watched Selling Sunset.’

Simone added: ‘Chrishell isn’t married to an Aussie man #thismorning you’ll be in trouble for misgendering them!!’

Chrishell has previously fumed at a fellow cast member for misgendering her spouse, who uses they/them pronouns.

‘My partner is non-binary, they use they/them pronouns. This is a simple thing,’ she explained on the show, to which her castmate quickly apologized.

‘This is the depth of our relationship where – the most important person in my life – you don’t know their pronouns. Which is totally fine, but my point is that you also don’t know me.’

Chrishell – who in the past was with This Is Us actor Justin Hartley and dated boss Jason Oppenheim – has also explained to Metro.co.uk about her decision to introduce her partner on Selling Sunset.

She told us last year: ‘Once we realized, okay, let’s just film where it’s just us and no drama can even infiltrate any of this scene, then it made me feel more comfortable adding G into such a chaotic show.

‘It’s stressful to feel like you have this… I just felt like I was responsible for making sure that it didn’t add anything negative to their life, because they already deal with a lot with people and their opinions. That’s already a lot, so I don’t need to add whatever drama is going on on the show.

‘That was something that we had many talks about until we found a place that we were really comfortable with. I’m obviously a little biased but those were my favorite things to shoot, because I knew it was going to be happy and no stress. So that was nice.’

Metro.co.uk has reached out to Sian’s reps and ITV for comment.

Selling Sunset is available to stream on Netflix now.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
