Louise Thompson has revealed how much she was paid when she first joined Made in Chelsea.

The former reality star, 34, appeared on the E4 show briefly during its first series before she was signed as a full-time cast member for series 2.

Initially, Louise – now in a relationship with Ryan Libbey, 33 – was brought into the show as Jamie Laing’s love interest, going on to date the likes of Spencer Matthews and Andy Jordan.

Despite bringing drama to the programme and cementing herself as a fan favourite, Louise was paid just £25 for each day of filming.

Speaking on Elizabeth Day’s How To Fail podcast, Louise hit out at the show, branding it a ‘waste of a good education’ after graduating from the University of Edinburgh with a geography degree.

Louise began: ‘I’d gone through quite a rough break-up in Edinburgh and I was ready to try something new, and I just couldn’t keep saying no.

‘I came to London and it was a funny old time for me because I was trying to be a serious student up in Edinburgh and had cool friends up there.

‘They’re all a bit more academic and studious and then I was going to film on Made in Chelsea where we were just filming in nightclubs and driving fast cars – that kind of thing.’

On her fee, she shared: ‘At the beginning, it was £25 a day, then it went up to £50 after one series, and then after a while I was paid £200 a day and that was capped at that – that was the absolute max.’

Louise remained on the show for nine years and left fully in 2020.

However, she isn’t happy with how she came across, claiming Made in Chelsea favoured the ‘bad boy’ characters, meanwhile, she looked like a ‘weak doormat.’

One of Louise’s most memorable scenes came when she rowed with ex-boyfriend Spencer, who insisted she ‘allowed him’ to cheat on her.

During a very heated argument, Spencer blazed at her: ‘It’s very hard to respect you when you allow me to cheat on you.’

Last year, Louise admitted that she now feels ’embarrassed’ by the moment, which saw her burst into tears as Spencer confessed to being unfaithful.

Louise has now added that the show allegedly celebrated men for ‘playing women off against each other’ and making them look ‘weak’.

She said: ‘The men always came out on top, which is ridiculous because most of the people working on the show were female.

‘They were celebrated for being naughty and for being mean and for playing us around.

‘I always felt as though I was fairly nice and treated people with respect: and I would end up looking really weak and like a doormat.

‘It’s really odd that the nation seemed to always be backing someone that was horrible… I would go through these break-ups, I’d be genuinely really upset, and people would watch it and think that I was weak for crying.’

Since leaving Made in Chelsea, Louise has gone on to become a real success story.

Alongside her fitness influencer work, she recently published her book, titled Lucky.

In 2021, she welcomed her son, Leo-Hunter, and has spoken openly about the health struggles that followed.

Louise had a ‘catastrophic’ labour, during which she haemorrhaged after an emergency C-section and then again a week later, losing three litres of blood.

The mum-of-one was also diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and recently revealed via Instagram that she had a stoma bag fitted to help with her condition, hailing the grey bag for ‘saving [her] life’.
