Blue star Duncan James has pulled out of live shows after he was rushed to hospital.

The 46-year-old was admitted to hospital yesterday to fix a procedure which ‘went wrong’ a few weeks ago.

Alongside bandmates Lee Ryan, Simon Webbe and Antony Costa, Duncan was due to perform at Radio City Hits Live in Liverpool today, but he’s been forced to pull out due to the incident.

Taking to social media with a video from a hospital bed, Duncan explained the situation and apologised to fans.

‘Some of you will know I went into hospital yesterday. I was admitted to have a correction of a procedure that happened two weeks ago and went a little bit wrong,’ he said.

‘I was rushed in and had it all fixed. I was kept in overnight and I am waiting to find out if I can go home today, fingers crossed.

‘However, it does mean that I won’t be able to attend the Foodies Festival today or the Hits Radio Live in Liverpool which I’m gutted about because I really wanted to do that.

‘But doctors have told me I need to rest up, I need to heal, I need to make sure everything is good where it should be good.

‘I just wanted to say I’m sorry for letting anyone down. I am on the mend, I am getting better, and I will keep you all updated soon. I know Lee, Simon and Antony are going to do a sterling job and smash it out the park today.

‘Sending you all One Love. I will speak to you all soon. Kisses.’

Fans posted their well wishes, as davies1991 wrote: ‘Rest up and look after yourself Duncan! One Love.’

‘Wish you well Duncan..speedy healing. Much love,’ wrote melanieburns1997.

Foodies Festival, where Duncan was also supposed to perform, also commented: ‘Oh no @mrduncanjames we’ll miss you loads today! Wishing you a speedy recovery and will see you again soon hopefully.’

Drag queen Cheryl Hole added: ‘Look after yourself and rest up my gorgeous TV Husband! Love you.’

This comes as Blue are getting back on the road with their greatest hits celebration after they shot to fame in 2000 with Rise.

The band are due to perform at gigs in Rotherham and Reading, before heading to Derby in August, followed by Scarborough, Poole, and a number of other dates in Italy.

The tour is bandmate Lee’s first following his sentencing for racially aggravated assault against a Black British Airways flight attendant.

A judge handed the All Rise singer a 12-month suspended prison sentence in September after the 40-year-old was arrested following the incident in July 2022.

Lee was found guilty in a trial in January, having drunkenly told a Black cabin crew member, ‘I want your chocolate children,’ before trying to give her a kiss and grabbing her by the wrists. He later denied that he is racist.

Sharing their tour news with fans, Duncan appeared on Good Morning Britain, while the remaining members joined in on a social media video.

‘We really hope you come along and celebrate two decades of music with us,’ Antony said excitedly.

Simon teased: ‘We’ll be doing all of our hits and, also, there’ll be some storytelling. Yes, we’ve got some stories…’

‘I love you boys, my boys!’, Duncan said fondly in response.

The Guilty hitmakers – who have sold 15milion records worldwide – last reunited in 2022 for their sixth album, Heart and Soul, which was followed by arena shows.
