Miami Swim Week’s wildest looks, from seashell & coconut bikinis to barely-there black tape ‘swimsuits’

MIAMI Swim Week is almost over so let’s take a look at some of the wildest looks so far.

From coconuts and starfish to strategically placed black tape, some of this year’s fashion was well and truly out there.

Miami Swim Week, the biggest swimwear event in the world, first came to fruition in 2004, albeit with a different name.

Since then, the event has grown and evolved, alongside the swimwear being modeled.

The crown of the week is Sports Illustrated’s famous runway exhibition.

Featuring big names in both the modeling and entertainment industries, the show also marked the 60th anniversary of the magazine.

Podcaster and influencer Alix Earle walked alongside other famous creators such as Jena Sims, and the Cavinder twins.

Other runway presentations included Amarotto Swimwear, Saint Clair’s, Tracy Marcus, and GSaints.

Some events drew significant attention for their rather out-there looks.

Among these was the Jewelz Mermaid Kisses Swimwear runway presentation.

The show garnered a lot of talk due to its unique take on what can be used as swimwear.

Many models posed in coconut bras and blue patterned bikini bottoms.

Others on the runway could be seen wearing similar style seashell two-pieces.

The DOB show featured another beach-themed take on the theme with a model wearing two-star fish cutouts over her chest.

While her bikini bottoms were plain white, they were complemented with a white tassel belt that resembled a grass skirt.

The Luxe Living Fashions show brought a touch of Victoria’s Secret Angels to their runway with models wearing halos and feathery wings along with their two pieces.

THE BLACK TAPE PROJECT

However, it was perhaps The Black Tape Project that stole the show for wild looks.

Specializing in body tape art, the initiative has caused quite a stir since it arrived on the fashion scene.

The exhibition featured models showing a lot of skin as they posed in strategically placed black metallic tape.

While the tape was used to maintain the modesty of each model, it also created some fun design features including high-waisted V-shaped bottoms, crisscross front straps, and even garters.

Miami Fashion Week will continue until Wednesday, June 5.
