Cyndi Lauper looked incredible as she attended the LA screening of her documentary, Let The Canary Sing.

The 70-year-old star has just announced her farewell tour this week, letting fans know that after more than four decades in the industry, she would end her music career with a bang.

At the end of this year, the popstar will begin the Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour across 23 cities, and is also set to appear at Glastonbury this month.

The final tour will be her first lengthy stint on the road in over a decade, following her last headline tour in 2013.

The 70-year-old pop icon known best for some of her hit songs such as Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and True Colours may be set to retire, but she looked youthful and years younger than 70 as she stunned at a premiere in LA this week.

Cyndi wore a bold lemon yellow double-breasted blazer that she paired with a matching pair of trousers this week.

With an addition of some red lipstick, the star was dressed to stand out and certainly stole the show with her bold sparkly accessories and her platinum blonde curls piled neatly on top of her head.

The star has been tight-lipped about any age-reversing cosmetic procedures and has said time after time (pardon the pun) that she owes it all to her £158 Tracie Martyn’s Firming Serum that she carries in her bag.

‘I use the serum every day,’ she reportedly told People. ‘It makes a world of difference. It’s really healing … you see a difference right away.’

Whatever her secret is, it was most certainly working as the iconic singer looked exactly the same on the red carpet at age 70 as she did at age 40.

The red carpet appearance was in celebration of the new documentary about her life and career, Let the Canary Sing, which premiered on June 4.

‘Over the years I’ve been asked to do a documentary about my life and work, but it never felt like the right time. Until now,’ Cyndi told Deadline.

She went on to praise the director of the documentary, Alison Ellwood, who she said she could trust to tell her story with honesty.

‘When I first met Alison Ellwood, I knew right away I could trust her to tell my story honestly, which was incredibly important to me, and she succeeded in that. I’d like to thank Alison, the producers and all of the amazing documentary participants who agreed to be interviewed.’

The title of the documentary stems from a court case involving Cyndi when she went solo from Blue Angel, the band she was involved with in the years before her solo career. The judge presiding over the case said of the artist: ‘Let the canary sing.’

The She Bop singer told The Hollywood Reporter in 2023: ‘She [Alison] wanted to call it Let the Canary Sing. This was a big thing for her, so I said, “Fine.”

‘I knew it was a big thing, I guess, for me too, when you think about it, because a guy (former manager) wanted me not to ever sing again. That wasn’t going to happen, come hell or high water.’

Let The Canary Sing is available to view on Paramount +
