Rapper C.Gambino has been shot dead in Sweden aged 26.

The award-winning artist, whose real name is Karar Ramadan, was parked in Gothenburg last night when he was shot twice, police confirmed to Swedish media.

C.Gambino – not to be confused with Childish Gambino – had almost 1million monthly listeners on Spotify, with hits including Automatic and Svar.

He was awarded a Grammi, the Swedish equivalent of a Grammy, for his work just last month.

The rapper was found on the evening of June 4 with a gunshot wound and taken to hospital, but he could not be saved.

Swedish Police confirmed to Metro.co.uk that C.Gambino was shot dead, and they have started an investigation. No arrests have been made.

Witnesses said a car was seen disappearing from the scene at high speed.

Five bullet holes are visible in a glass door near the car park stairwell, and no one has been arrested at the time of writing, according to Swedish outlet SVT.se.

Jens Andersson, a spokesperson for the Swedish police department, told The Sun: ‘[A]witness saw a car that is seen in connection with what happened. We are investigating whether it is true.”

Another spokesperson Annika Laag added: ‘We are working to collect witness information from as many [locals] as we can and continue to work on the technical investigation.’

Fans took to social media to pay their respects, as @serupek said: ‘Rip C.gambino.’

Rest in peace C.Gambino,’ wrote @whoisedv0n, while @easymedown commented: ‘Rest in peace C.Gambino, undoubtedly among the better rappers Sweden has been part of.’

‘Rest in Peace C. Gambino. It is always tragic when young people are murdered, but it becomes especially noticeable when it is someone you appreciate as an artist,’ added @honfrsocmed.
