Chris Evans has celebrated an exciting milestone following his diagnosis with skin cancer.

The radio DJ, 58, was diagnosed with the disease last year and revealed live on his radio show: ‘So, the best news that I got whilst I was away is that it was a positive test, so I have tested positive for skin cancer.’

Although weeks later the presenter announced he’d been given the all-clear, Chris has revealed on social media that he’s made some changes to his life, notably his drinking habits.

He revealed that he’d been sober for the past year and was celebrating his ‘soberversary’ on June 4.

‘Happy Soberversary to us 😁 One year alcohol free TODAY. Feels amazing. Year 2 starts tmr,’ part of the caption read.

Julia Bradbury, who is in remission after a breast cancer diagnosis in 2021, commented: ‘It’s quite a thing isn’t it….to drop the alcohol. I’m finding people’s reactions interesting. Congrats …looks like it’s doing you both good! 😂’

Fearne Cotton, who’s been vocal about her sobriety, commented with praising hand emojis and Strictly star Angela Scanlon commented: ‘Gorgeous pic of you both x.’

In September 2023, Chris and his golfer wife, Natasha Shishmanian, showed off their Alcoholics Anonymous Green Chips on Instagram as they celebrated 90 days of sobriety.

In his 2015 autobiography, Call The Midlife, the radio star revealed he’d once been to Alcoholics Anonymous to discuss whether he had a drinking problem.

‘Do I drink too much, do I have anything to worry about? [I discussed] all of these things that play on my mind,’ he wrote.

When the presenter announced his cancer diagnosis, he said that it was caught early.

’The reason it’s great news is because they’ve caught it as early as they can, as early as is possible,’ he told listeners.

He then added: ‘There’s this phrase called a malignant melanoma – you know once you get something and you find out all about it – that is a redundant phrase because if it is a melanoma, it is malignant.’

‘But it’s been caught so early, just so you know, that it should be completely treatable.’
