Kay Burley has revealed the horrific injuries on her face after she woke up ‘covered in blood’ last year.
The Sky News presenter, 63, took to Instagram on Tuesday to reveal she suffered a black eye and bruising all over one side of her face after a nasty accident.
Alongside a selfie showing the purple mark around her eye, and swelling and yellow bruising across her eyebrow and cheekbone, Kay thanked fans for their kind words and urged them to check their blood pressure having recently revealed that had caused the incident.
She then shared another selfie thanking her make-up artists for appearing to make the bruise disappear entirely as Kay was about to go on air.
‘Brilliant makeup artists saved the day,’ she said.
Kay had revealed over the weekend that she suffered a fall last June, after waking up at home and preparing for her Breakfast Show.
She began: ‘The sitting up, taking a breath and putting all the lights on is very, very important because last year I jumped out of bed and, next thing, I woke up covered in blood on the bathroom floor.’

She went on to The Times: ‘I take medicine to lower my blood pressure and the menopause lowers it further still. Who knew?
‘I got out of bed too quickly and just passed out in the shower.
‘Luckily I hit my head on the wall as I went down because the doctor said if I’d hit the door jamb it would have been Goodnight Vienna.’

When it comes to sharing her life on social media, the presenter previously admitted she tries to find the right balance between showing followers her ‘character and personality’ and ensuring there’s no bias.
‘As long as I’m fair and balanced I see social media as an opportunity to show a bit of my character and personality,’ she exclusively told Metro.co.uk.
‘Potentially I do let my hair down a little bit more on social media, although, I don’t think at the moment Ofcom regulates Twitter, but I behave on Twitter as if they did.’

Kay also said there are some days she wonders whether it’s time to move on, particularly when it comes to the early wakeups.
‘What can I say, I get up at 3.17 every morning, because 3.15 is too early. You know, on occasion, if I’ve been doing a long stint of day after day after day, recently, because I was prepping for the show, I did 18 days in a row,’ she explained at the time.
‘This is my third incarnation of breakfast and when I was 23, 24 when I did TV-am it was a bit easy to get up then, than now I’m 62… nearly.’
Kay Burley airs Monday-Thursday from 7am on Sky.
