Harry Hill has revealed a ‘national scandal’ that occurred during his iconic 90s programme You’ve Been Framed.

The comedian, 59, brought us the iconic ITV show which lasted for more than 30 years, before it was heartbreakingly axed in 2020.

The classic series saw members of the public send in their funny home videos, often featuring children and pets, with the most memorable being comical slips and falls.

He’s now however revealed that people did fake videos to get their hands on the £250 ITV were offering, including a producer.

Spilling the behind-the-scenes tea, Harry told Hits Radio Breakfast Show hosts Angellica Bell and James Barr: ‘You could always spot a fake and we were quite hard on them. They only really got in if we were short…

‘Actually when I started doing the show, and this is true, the producer was getting married and needed the money for the wedding so was submitting clips under different names.

‘She somehow managed to get hold of a hedgehog and make it fall off the draining board onto the sink, submitted that and got £250. It’s a national scandal!’

Harry went on to say that while reports of the show being cancelled came out in 2022, it was actually axed two years before.

He explained: ‘You’ve Been Framed was actually cancelled in 2020 – it just took two years for anyone to notice because all the episodes of You’ve Been Framed are pretty much the same!’

‘It’s an old lady at a wedding falling off a trestle table we can see her knickers…  here’s a boy with a tray of hot drinks, oh no he hasn’t seen the patio door he spilt them all over himself he’s got burns and is in hospital and on a ventilator… see you after the break!’ he narrated.

Harry elsewhere spoke about a possible return of TV Burp, which ran from 2001 until 2012.

The series saw skits of iconic pop culture moments, taking a humorous look over the week’s TV with various spoofs.

And after previously saying that some parts were ‘quite harsh’, he’s admitted that TV ‘has changed so much’.

Harry said: ‘Firstly no one has asked me to bring it back and I can’t just start doing it in the street!

‘Also, TV has changed so much. When we did TV Burp everyone watched the same stuff – everyone watched X Factor, EastEnders, everyone knew Kat and Alfie’s story but now we all watch different stuff.’

Harry took over hosting You’ve Been Framed in 2004 from the likes of Lisa Riley and Jonathan Wilkes, with Jeremy Beadle having originally fronted it.

In 2019, Harry spoke about his long tenure on the series, explaining that he isn’t on the team that vets the videos that are sent in.

He outlined the ‘long list’ of submissions, some of which are ‘fakes’, and some of which are even ‘sex videos’.

‘I’ve been doing that show for 15 years now. Do you think that’s enough? Maybe I should call it a day,’ he quipped, according to The Daily Star.
