Reddit user Smokeletsgo2121 couldn’t believe what they thrifted at their local Goodwill.

They explained in a post how they got their hands on a vintage Hermes scarf.

“Nothing like a mint-condition Hermes scarf for 50 cents, amirite?” they wrote in the caption.

The silk vintage item was 34” x 34” and designed by Frenchman Francoise de la Perriere.

The nautical-themed accessory is retailing for $499.89 on the reseller site 1stDibs.

According to the site, it was probably designed in the 1960s.

After snagging it for only 50 cents, that is close to a 1,000% markdown.

“Wow, you were the Thrift Gods’ favorite today! Congratulations, it’s lovely,” another Redditor wrote.

They replied that it was “due” time.

The designs on the scarf were also a common topic of conversation.

A history buff explained that the scarf pattern depicts boats from East and Southeast Asia, including Hong Kong.

Another Reddit user from Hong Kong commented that they wanted it for themselves.

“It does represent an important historical craft of the Chinese and the unique characteristics of the Junks/Sampans,” the Redditor replied.

“Definitely set them apart from the typical sail-fixed vessels the rest of the world had used.”

“The amount of detail they put in a scarf is nuts,” another wrote.

“Absolutely, de la Perriere was there from 1953 to 1995 I believe, and has some pretty wild pieces,” the poster agreed.

Valuable thrifting finds revealed

Here are some of the best thrift store finds:

Tiffany & Co. earrings that sold for $0.34 and are valued at $430
American Girl doll that sold for $5.99 and is valued at $300
Bionicle toy that sold for $14.95 and is valued at $18.101
Gold record plaque for DJ Quik’s 1992 album Way 2 Fonky that sold for @20 and is valued at $200
Rothy’s brand Sugared Berry pointed-toe flats that sold for $155 retail and are valued at $250

The Redditor knows that they lucked out when they stumbled across it.

Another called the luxury item “stunning and exquisite.”

They admitted that they are “always shocked” at what their Goodwill outlet has to offer because of what their wealthy neighbors throw away.

Someone wrote that they were “beyond jealous” and it was a “great find,” while another added they were also “jealous.”

“Haha thank you, all glory to the GW Gods,” the original Redditor wrote.
