‘It holds you in at the tummy’ cries midsize mum as she bags perfect M&S denim skirt that’s a ‘gorgeous fit’

And in a recent video, the podcast host – part of the Girls Overheard trio – was impressed by the “surprising” prices in M&S as she bagged a “gorgeous” black denim midi skirt.

Trying it on, she said: “This is so lovely and high waisted, it really holds you in at the tummy.

“This skirt is absolutely gorgeous.

“Long denim skirts started to have their moment last year and everyone was a bit scared. Now, they’re everywhere. They’re so comfy.”

She added: “A lot of time when you wear maxi skirts they can feel quite restricting, like your organs are being pushed into places they shouldn’t be

“But this really does flex as you wear it, but not in a way that’s not controlling. It’s just a very very nice sort of denim.

“[Under] £30 for a really gorgeous, big split on the leg, black denim skirt. I know I will get so much use out of this.”

The £29.50 skirt comes in sizes 6-24 and is available in petite, regular and long.

And if you decide it truly is a staple piece in your wardrobe, you can also pick it up in ecru, medium indigo and light denim.

Mum-of-two Ash – who wears a size 12/14 – added: “Just know that when you’re trying items from M&S the quality is unreal so when you’re buying something it truly is an investment into your wardrobe.”

And she isn’t the only one loving the denim skirt, as it racked up five-star reviews on the Marks and Spencer website.

One satisfied shopper gushed: “Excellent quality and value for money. Useful for every day wear or can be dressed up.”

A second said: “It goes with everything and can be dressed up or down. I bought the denim waistcoat too and plan on wearing them together…double denim delight!”

A third wrote: “I love this skirt! It’s so comfy & stylish. So many friends have commented on it. It’s on the bigger size too so size down.”

“Flattering fit and really comfy denim. Great length”, chimed in a fourth.

A fifth added: “Very good value summer skirt. Material soft and very comfortable to wear.”

Meanwhile, a sixth echoed: “Love this skirt. On trend and excellent value for money. Better quality fabric than others I tried at similar price point. Nice fit.”

If this has inspired you to pop into your nearest M&S for a look, you should also keep an eye out for the £39.50 dress that is perfect for summer holidays and “looks amazing” on everyone.

Why everyone is loving M&S

Deputy Fashion Editor Abby McHale revealed to Fabulous why M&S is the shop of the moment. She explained:

“M&S has really pulled it out of the bag this season, there is so much good product to be excited about.
“A brand once known for its ‘frumpy fashion’ that notion is long gone with it now being one of the leading high street stores for womenswear.
“Its handbag range in particular is super strong with them selling 170% vs plan, with lots more designer dupes for just a fraction of the price.
“The brand is now also the #1 for style perceptions, compared to the #3 spot it had last year, this comes from a really strong design team focused on modernising the brand, not only taking into consideration how the pieces look, but how easy they are to wear also.
“Price is also a big factor with you being able to get many good quality pieces all for under £30.
“After having a sneak peak of the upcoming collection there are so many more amazing pieces that are dropping over the next few months to keep your eyes on.
“Think leopard print dresses, colourful co-ords, embroidered boho jackets, plus lots of swimwear and amazing accessories, as well as great wardrobe staples that will last year on year.”

With its bold red and cream print, the Pure Cotton Printed One Shoulder Dress has a stunning asymmetrical design with a puff sleeve that is bang on trend for this season.

The frock is also super flattering thanks to its elasticated waistband and cut-out detail that highlights your silhouette.

If you weren’t already sold, the maxi-midi can be easily dressed up or down with the right pair of shoes.
