Congratulations are in order for Louis Smith, who is set to become a dad for the second time.

Louis, 35, is best known as a gymnast champion, having earned several medals at the Olympics. In 2012, he won BBC dance show Strictly Come Dancing with professional partner Flavia Cacace.

The athlete is already a proud dad to daughter Marley Valentina, but now his family is growing.

Announcing his baby joy, Louis took to Instagram with a photo of the scan.

‘It’s so nice we had to do it twice 😅❤️❤️❤️ 👶🏽’, he wrote in the caption.

‘Omg congratulations ❤️❤️❤️❤️’, wrote Dancing On Ice’s Amber Davies.

Former Strictly professional Ian Waite added: ‘Aahhhhhhh congratulations ❤️’

Louis’s other half, Charlie Bruce, also shared the announcement on her own Instagram page, which featured a scan photo among an arrangement of pink and blue tasty treats.

Revealing the unborn baby’s due date, her caption read: ‘The best birthday present I could ask for 🥳👶🏻 Due 5.12.24’.

Louis added the snap to his Instagram Story with the comical caption: ‘Looks like we are running it back for round two’, followed by a love heart emoji and the word ‘surpriseeee’.

Louis – who was awarded an MBE in 2013 – began dating Charlie, a British jazz dancer from Leicestershire, in November 2017.

In September 2020, the couple announced that they were expecting their first child together, and they welcomed a baby girl in February 2021.

Sharing her arrival with the world, the star wrote on social media at the time: ‘What a 3 days it’s been. From Thursday night to Sunday morning. You women are incredible and the mother of my child is no exception. So glad both ladies are doing well and healthy. Marley Valentina Smith welcome.’

His girlfriend shared a photo of the three of them, adding: ‘Welcome to the world Marley Valentina Smith. Born at 2.30am on the 14th of February & weighs a healthy 7lb 5oz.’

As well as lifting the Strictly trophy and boasting a collection of several Olympic medals, fans will know Louis as the winner of The Masked Dancer.

His win came shortly after Strictly, with Louis previously describing it as a ‘very full-on year’, however, he noted that venturing onto the dancefloor was a great way of ‘pulling down the tensions of the Olympics’.

He’s repeatedly praised his girlfriend for being his biggest supporter, saying that while being a dad is ‘absolutely amazing’, it hasn’t all been smooth sailing.

‘That’s not to get confused with, “It’s been easy”, because it’s been difficult. It’s been challenging. Me and the girlfriend both found it hard.’

But, Louis – who used to date Lucy Mecklenburgh – believes the hard times have been ‘made easier by the love and the dedication and motivation that comes from having a child’.

He’s also keen for his little ones to follow in his footsteps.

Louis – who took home medals at the 2008, 2012, and 2016 Olympics – joked about toddler Marley: ‘I would probably encourage her to pick a sport, which is probably going to pay more money!’

‘She can do whatever she wants, and I will do my best to support her from start to finish,’ he added sweetly.
