Laundry expert’s 3 hacks to get your clothes to dry even quicker outside – including ‘game-changing’ overlapping trick

THE hotter months are finally upon us.

And while this means summer holidays, pub gardens and lighter evenings, it also means time to start drying our laundry outside.

It’s finally time to start drying our laundry outside!

A laundry expert revealed 3 hacks to get your clothes to dry even quicker outside

For us Brits with never-ending piles of dirty clothes, the higher temperatures and longer days are a laundry godsend.

The summer offers lots of opportunities to dry our clothes outdoors on a clothesline.

As a result, our laundry smells fresher AND we save money on energy bills.

But it’s not as simple as sticking some pegs on the clothes and leaving them out.

There’s hacks you can try that will help you dry TWICE as many clothes at once.

The experts at Hiatt Hardware have shared the most efficient way to dry your clothes outdoors this summer with Fabulous.

“Drying your clothes efficiently requires sufficient space, warmth and plenty of ventilation and the warm summer months offer this in abundance,” product manager Ryan Calvert says.

“Using the fresh air to your advantage is a cost-effective solution to clothes drying and also comes with the pleasant benefit of a light and fresh-smelling wardrobe.”

HACK ONE: OVERLAPPING

Busy households often have large amounts of clothes to wash and dry every week, especially before the kids break up from school.

“Outdoor clotheslines offer ample space to hang your clothes on,” Ryan says.

“But if you find yourself with a couple of extra items and are struggling for space, we recommend overlapping your items at the corners.

“This technique may require an extra hour or two of drying time for the pinned corners but it will allow you to dry more clothes overall.

“By overlapping your items in this way, you can also use fewer pegs.”

If there are gaps for smaller items like socks or underwear, you can squeeze those in too.

HACK TWO: DOUBLE UP

According to Ryan, hanging your clothes across multiple lines increases ventilation.

This duly allows the lingering moisture to evaporate much faster.

We have all experienced the confusion of a single, stray sock returning from the washing pile

“This trick will also allow more of the breezy, outdoor scent to cling to your clothes,” the expert says.

“It’ll bring that sought-after ‘fresh laundry’ smell!”

HACK THREE: ORGANISATION STATION

“We have all experienced the confusion of a single, stray sock returning from the washing pile,” Ryan comments.

“Outdoor drying offers the opportunity to pair your socks up before drying.”

But it doesn’t have to stop there.

According to the expert, there are many great solutions on the market that offer us the opportunity to organise and maximise space on the clothesline.

For example, gadgets like peg dryers and hanging contraceptives will speed up your laundry routine.

“Hanging peg dryers allow you to hang up several items at once and you can bundle and pair socks together as soon as the drying process is done, preventing any lone socks this summer,” Ryan says.
