Miranda Derrick, subject of Netflix’s latest documentary Dancing for the Devil, has claimed her life has been put at risk.

The TikTok influencer, who has accumulated 2.1million followers through her dancing videos, shared a ‘transparent’ and ‘vulnerable’ message with her followers after her parents and sister brought her story to attention in the three-episode series.

The Netflix documentary, Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult, follows a ‘group of prominent TikTok dancers’ who are ‘trapped in a cult masquerading as a management company called 7M’.

And aimed fire at Shekinah Church and 7M Films founder Robert Shinn.

Miranda, 27, née Wilking, separated from her family in 2020 to launch her own career and has since met and married her husband, and fellow agency dancer, James Derrick.

In the new TikTok video, which has comments switched off, Miranda said: ‘Before this documentary my husband and I felt safe. Now that this documentary is out we feel like our lives have been put in danger.

‘We have both been followed in our cars. We have received hate mail, death threats. People have been sending us messages to commit suicide. We’ve been stalked.’

She went onto recall some of the messages she has been sent including someone threatening to ‘gut’ her in the street and another saying they would ‘come and show’ her in the ‘trunk of a car’.

She continued: ‘These are just some of the messages I’ve been receiving behind the scenes.

‘I honestly don’t understand how my parents [Kelly and Dean Wilking] and my sister [Melanie Wilking] thought that this documentary would help me or our relationship in any way.’

The influencer grew estranged from her parents after becoming more religious and joining 7M but has attempted to reconcile.

She explained: ‘I have been getting together with my family for the past couple years, privately, to work on our relationship to make things right, to mend what has been broken and I have been loving it.’

However, she added that ‘this documentary has made it very difficult to continue doing that’. But she clarified she would return with regular dancing content when she could.

‘It brings me so much joy. I just want to get back to that.’

The new video comes days after Miranda took to Instagram to heavily refute she has joined a cult or been brainwashed.

She said she could not address ‘specific allegations’ due to ‘pending litigation in which I am the plaintiff of a defamation lawsuit’.

However, Miranda added that she and her family no longer see ‘eye to eye’ after she gave her life to Jesus Christ in 2020.

She concluded by saying: ‘I can’t convince anyone to believe anything. I am just a woman trying to live my life. I am not a victim, I am not in any harm, I am not being abused.’

Melanie and her parents first shone a spotlight on their concerns in 2022 on Instagram where the family claimed Miranda had been forbidden from contacting them.

7M denied the Wilking family’s worries in a statement to Rolling Stone back in 2022 saying it was ‘pathetic and contemptible’.

Several allegations have been made against pastor Robert, including sexual assault from former member Priscylla Lee who is filing a lawsuit. Other accusations include financial misconduct, labour violations, alienation and coercive control.

No criminal charges have been held against Robert.

7M films has also refuted the accusations of exploitation made in the documentary, telling USA Today it was ‘a slanderous work of fiction, born from a failed extortion attempt, and invented for the sole purpose of gaining fame and fortune.’

‘Netflix recklessly provided a global platform to peddle a false narrative that is at the centre of ongoing litigation,’ the company added.

Director Derek Donnen confirmed Miranda and her husband had been invited to participate in the documentary but declined, according to US Weekly.

The documentary ended on this disclaimer: ‘No criminal charges have been brought against Shinn. He has previously denied sexually abusing any member of Shekinah or any client of 7M.

‘The civil lawsuit [against Shinn, 7M, Shekinah, and others, filed by former dancers and members of Shekinah] is ongoing. Robert and his codefendants deny the claims against them. The case is set to go to trial in 2025.’
