Dearest readers, in a matter of hours you’ll be able to watch the part two of Bridgerton’s season three.

As Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington leave the friend zone even further behind than they did in their carriage, actor Luke Newton has spoken about what it’s like to film the intimate scenes with Nicola Coughlan.

The Netflix series has become known for its ultimate romantic declarations, and the passionate scenes, so viewers have high expectations but it’s unlikely they will be disappointed with what they see on screen.

At a special screening for the show, Luke told Metro.co.uk that the steamy moments felt ‘honest’.

‘It felt really true and honest to their love story,’ he explained.

‘Jess [Brownell], the showrunner, and her team really honoured that. It felt like the natural progression to be honest. It never felt like there was a big jump to those scenes. They feel so authentic and honest.’

The 31-year-old teased that viewers won’t have to wait long to see ‘the steamiest scene’ of the whole season. He described the moments as beautiful, and praised his co-star Nicola, 37, for supporting him.

‘I just think it’s so beautifully done and having that experience with Nic, we just supported each other through it,’ he recalled.

Both actors have been on the series, which was first released in 2020, since it began so have been able to build up a strong friendship, which has been clear during their press tour.

‘We’ve been friends now for five years and we knew we’d have to go into that together. We’re really happy with it,’ Luke concluded.

Luke was also asked on the red carpet when he felt sexiest, and explained why it was during a clothed moment.

‘Maybe Colin’s arrival in the brown coat when he was swinging that around I was like “This looks cool”,’ he responded.

‘Probably not the intimacy scenes because you’re wearing weird stuff and there’s a load of guys around you just looking with cameras.

‘So yeah, in costume,’ he added with a laugh.

Nicola previously explained how ‘empowered’ she felt filming the sex scenes, and how instrumental it was to work with their ‘amazing’ intimacy coordinator Lizzy Talbot.

‘People go well, is it like a stunt or is it like a dance? It’s not really like that. It’s more like giving you a framework to do it the way you want to do it. And we had a lot of say in how we wanted things to go,’ she explained.

‘It’s not like, you kiss for three seconds and then you move your hand. We knew we had to hit certain points, but we were able to flow with it and make it seem natural and organic. It’s amazing having that control. It makes you feel very empowered.’

Bridgerton season three part one arrives on Netflix on June 13.
