‘Definitely not appropriate for a wedding…it’s too short and revealing’ people shame guest for ‘selfish, pick me’ dress

A WOMAN has left people totally stunned after showing off the dress she wore to her brother’s wedding.

Paris Culbertson, a designer from Melbourne, Australia, was unsure what to wear for her sibling’s big day, and ended up making her very own frock for the occasion.

But Paris’ dress has left people seriously divided – whilst some hailed it ‘cute’, others deemed it ‘not appropriate for a wedding’.

It comes after the self-proclaimed ‘fashion girlie’ who loves ‘making sparkly things’ and even has her own bespoke fashion brand Pazdaz, which was launched in 2020, took to social media to show off the dress she wore as a wedding guest.

Paris responded to a comment from one of her followers that read: “What did you end up wearing to the wedding?”

To this, the fashionista replied and explained: “I wore the dress.

“I didn’t really have anything else.

“But I didn’t wear it with the bow, I made it a little more toned down.”

Paris then shared a snap from her brother’s wedding day, whereby she posed in the short blue dress, as she beamed: “I think it looks cute.”

The unique corset style tight dress has a plunge neckline and a flattering design.

Paris styled her handmade dress with a pair of nude heels and a small bag, and wore her hair in loose curls.

But the TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @pazadz, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed a whopping 340,800 views in just one day.

Social media users were hugely divided by the frock – whilst many described it as ‘adorable’, others thought it was ‘too short’ and ‘too revealing’.

One person said: “The dress is gorgeous and you look beautiful in it. makes me sad that you don’t seem excited about it. You literally look AMAZING.”

Another added: “It’s very cute, you looked stunning.”

A third commented: “It’s adorable. Bow would have worked too. Suits you to a tee.”

Dos and don’ts of wedding dress codes

By Josie Griffiths, Fabulous deputy editor and bride-to-be.

I’ll never forget the wedding I went to in October 2022 where a guest wore a white dress.
It was ill-fitting, knee length and looked nothing like an actual wedding dress, but that didn’t stop everyone judging her.
The rules on wedding guest outfits – which are annoyingly loads stricter for women than they are for men – are meant to be about “not upstaging the bride”, which in reality is quite hard to do on someone else’s wedding day.
But if you get it wrong as a guest, you do end up looking a bit silly, and in front of loads of people who don’t know you personally.
It’s just not the occasion for your new white dress, as much as online stores love dumping them in the ‘wedding guest’ section.
I’d avoid anything too tight/short, and ditch super formal gowns unless the dress code calls for them – you don’t want to be in a full length sequin gown at a smart casual event.
Personally I don’t like black dresses either, it isn’t a funeral.
Otherwise you should be pretty safe. Technically wearing red means you’re in love with the groom, but that’s the kind of rule most people would scoff at nowadays.
I do always check what colour the bridesmaids are in, just to be safe, after the Spanish wedding where I watched them walk down the aisle in the exact same dress I’d had in my Asos shopping basket just weeks earlier.
If in doubt, safest to just double check with the bride… but if you’re already doubting your dress that might be all the answer you need.

Whilst someone else beamed: “Honestly – it looks great. You nailed it with your final styling.”

However, not everyone was as keen on Paris’ dress.

One user questioned: “Why? Literally anything would have been better than that.”

I would’ve sent you home

A second chimed in: “Noooo it’s a pretty dress but definitely not appropriate for a wedding… It’s too short, too revealing…”

Another user claimed: “You absolutely could have found something else.. selfish pick me behaviour.”

Whilst someone else wrote: “I would’ve sent you home.”
