Former Spandau Ballet singer Ross William Wild raped and filmed himself molesting multiple women, a court has heard.

The 36-year-old Scottish performer – whose real name is Ross Davidson – would demand sex up to six times a night and allegedly force his victims when they showed their reluctance.

Davidson appeared at London’s Wood Green Crown Court on Tuesday, where the jury was told the singer also filmed himself molesting sleeping women, who were unaware of the abuse until they were shown the footage.

According to The Sun, he was accused of harbouring a deviant fantasy of having sex with women while they were asleep, as well as a ‘model’ – by which he allegedly meant a dummy or mannequin.

One sleeping woman was allegedly filmed while Davidson sexually assaulted her at the Cannes Film Festival, while another was allegedly treated by him as a ‘sexual slave’.

Davidson acted as the lead singer of Spandau Ballet in 2018, after a successful West End career including stints in We Will Rock You and Million Dollar Quartet – where he first performed with Spandau’s bassist, Martin Kemp.

He was the temporary replacement for original singer Tony Hadley.

Davidson is in court to accused of three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, one count of voyeurism, one count of intimidation and one of controlling behaviour against five separate women over a ten-year period between 2013 and 2023.

He denies all of the charges.

Prosecutor Richard Hearnden described Davidson as ‘very good looking’ and ‘a bit of a sex symbol’ – but one who had ‘a darker side’.

Mr Hearnden claimed that ‘the women in this case can all attest to that sinister part of his personality’, even if it was not the first thing girls and women would notice about him.

According to the publication, the solicitor added: ‘In this case, many young women have come forward to tell the police that they have been victims of Mr Davidson’s predatory behaviour.

‘It is because he expects to get sex on demand that he will resort to rape and sexual assault if he is not given what he thinks he deserves.’

Davidson is accused of secretly filming himself raping the first woman after an argument at his North Finchley flat on October 1, 2013.

Mr Hearnden, who alleged that Davidson filmed these sorts of acts for his ‘own personal gratification’ said: ‘Afterwards, he said to her “Why do you look like you’ve been raped.” She was shocked he would ask such a question.’

He is then accused of covertly filming himself fondling a second woman’s breasts and her holding his penis, with the woman said to be unaware she had been recorded.

It was this woman, according to the prosecutor, who Davidson informed he had a ‘fantasy’ and ‘desire’ to ‘have sex with a woman while she was asleep’.

A third woman was allegedly abused by him in Cannes In May 2018, who wasn’t aware that she had been sexually molested at the time as she was asleep.

Davidson is also accused of filming a fourth woman performing a sex act on him without her consent before allegedly raping her later at his home.

The fourth woman, Mr Hearnden claimed, was said to have informed Davidson she didn’t want to have sex with him and ‘told him so repeatedly’.

He also said that she ‘remembers pushing against or on his chest with both her hands to emphasise the point’ and called her mother from the bathroom afterwards.

This same alleged victim claims she was treated as ‘some sort of sexual slave’ by Davidson, who also forced her to clean his home.

Another woman, who met Davidson on dating app Plenty of Fish in February 2012, and went to stay with him in March 2015, also alleged that she woke up in his bed to find Davidson having sex with her.

Mr Hearnden said that the complainant felt ‘scared, intimidated and helpless’, and it was she who Davidson had allegedly earlier told that he liked the idea of having sex with ‘a model’.

‘He did not mean, it transpired, a supermodel, a very attractive person, but something else entirely,’ Mr Hearnden continued, alleging that he was really describing ‘sex with a dummy, a mannequin, or a doll, that sort of model’.

The woman claimed that Davidson said he ‘liked the idea of the other person, the woman, being still and not showing any emotion and not reacting to the sexual act at all’.

However, Davidson apparently never told her that he wanted to have sex in that manner with her, and ‘nor did she tell him that she wanted to play such a role’.

Singer Davidson was initially arrested at his home on March 30 2021, and questioned about one of the alleged rapes and two alleged sexual assaults, as well as the videos, with the prosecutor saying he maintained that everything was consensual between him and the women.

Davidson, who also sings with band Mercutio, had a short tenure with Spandau Ballet after they effectively sacked him live on ITV’s This Morning after a year, with Martin Kemp confirming the band would not be touring again ‘until Tony comes back’.

The humiliation of the ordeal later saw Davidson claim it led him to try and take his own life.

The trial continues.
