Nearly 20 years after retiring from acting, former Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Robia Scott, has appeared looking more sensational than ever.

While many remember the star, 53, for her loveable role as Jenny Calendar in the hit 90s series, others may know her as the dancer, muse, and close friend of Prince.

Now, despite making a brief acting return in 2019, she has left her life of dancing and acting behind to embark on a new career within her Christian faith.

The star is not shy in discussing her transition from actress to life coach and regularly posts content on her Instagram account, website and often partakes in interviews in which she discusses her past life as an actress and her journey to finding God.

In a 2020 interview, Scott opened up about her new life, explaining: ‘I walked away from a thriving career in Hollywood and into full-time ministry where I get to share my faith with others. It doesn’t matter which part of my life I look back on. God has been right there with me the whole time.’

The former actress first shot to fame in the 1990s after working as a dancer with an array of talent, including Ricky Martin, Michael Jackson, and her close friend, Prince.

She appeared on the cover of his 1991 album Diamonds and Pearls, toured with the star, and starred in multiple music videos alongside Lori Elle.

She and Elle infamously spoke on behalf of Prince during 1991 and 1993 – the two years he refused to talk to the media. In a 2016 interview, she said: ‘He was so mischievous and loved the speculation about what was going on between the three of us.’

Following her dancing career, the star landed the role of Jenny in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, appearing in 14 episodes between 1997 and 1998 as the Sunnyvale High School computer teacher.

Scott’s character initially served as someone Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Buffy looked up to, as well as a romantic interest for Rupert Giles (Anthony Stewart Head).

Earning a soft spot in the hearts of many viewers, her story took a dark and unexpected turn in the second season when it was revealed she was part of the evil Romani group – a group that cursed Buffy’s love interest, Angel (David Boreanaz).

Forced to try and come between the two love birds, Angel fell victim to his evil alter ego, Angelus and brutally killed Scott’s character. She was the show’s first recurring character to die, and fans were devastated by her demise.

Scott returned as a ghost for three episodes, and her death was ‘the most terrifying and upsetting phase of the show’ according to many film and TV professors of the time.

After Scott’s character was killed off, she starred in multiple small-scale roles, including CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, The Pretender, and Looking for Lois, but ultimately retired from acting after she received what she believed to be a sign from God.

In the early 2000s, when the star was battling with weight, body image issues and destructive habits, she wanted to overcome her ‘self-sabotaging cycle of torment’ and reportedly began searching for a sign.

Speaking to a Christian publication about the moment her life path changed, she said: ‘When you’re driving down the highway and praying for a sign, and your car is suddenly surrounded by a Jesus biker gang, I’d say that’s a pretty clear indication of his hand at work.’

Scott continued to attend auditions but found herself saying ‘no’ more and more, and in 2001, she decided to give up theatre completely. She continued working in TV commercials for a short while, but ultimately, by the mid-2000s, she had given up acting altogether.

The former actress then dug deep into her Christian faith and wrote a book about her experience, Counterfeit Comforts.

In 2019, she briefly returned to the screen for the film Unplanned, inspired by the life of pro-life activist Abby Johnson. She starred as Planned Parenthood clinic director Cheryl, telling Catholic World Report, ‘God was calling me back to Hollywood after a 13-year hiatus.’

The former actress now works full-time as a minister and life coach, ‘helping Christian women achieve optimal health and lose weight easily with a faith-infused method.’

Buffy The Vampire Slayer is available to stream on Disney Plus in the UK.
