Boy Meets World star Trina McGee has been forced to confirm her pregnancy is natural after being accused of a publicity stunt by her former co-star.

The 54-year-old actress, who found fame as Angela Moore on the sitcom, revealed she was pregnant earlier this month.

She told her followers: ‘At the tender age of 54 I have found myself pregnant. Please bless us with your prayers for a safe delivery. Thank you.’

While she’s been taking a break from social media after making the announcement, Trina has been forced to clarify that her pregnancy is natural.

‘I just kept saying, “Is this really happening?” I still do that. “Is this really happening?” But it is,’ she began in an interview with People.

Trina echoed that the pregnancy was a ‘shock’ to her, and said that it was ‘completely natural’, after being accused of a publicity stunt by her co-star.

Shortly after announcing her pregnancy, Boy Meets World actress Maitland Ward claimed Trina’s pregnancy could be a publicity stunt.

The Rachel McGuire star, 47, said she thought Trina had been joking about the pregnancy after a lack of ‘information or verification’.

Maitland told TMZ that her ‘first thought was, is this April Fools’ Day?’

‘I hope that its not a publicity stunt or anything, I hope not,’ she went on.

When probed on why she may think that, Maitland added that she hadn’t seen any ‘verification or information’, continuing: ‘I would hope as it goes along she would show us her journey, because that’s a big deal, that would help a lot of women.’

She went on: ‘I don’t think Trina planned it, it has to be an accident, I don’t think she would plan it. It should be celebrated that it happened.

‘At first I thought, this is a joke!’

Trina has three adult children with former husband Randall Davis, whom she married from 1991 to 2001.

Her fourth child will be her first with husband Marcello Thedford, who she met while shooting the Sylvester Stallone action-thriller Daylight. The couple have been married for nearly two decades.

Talking about her previous pregnancies, Trina joked that this would be the first who ‘got a lot more press in the stomach’, after saying she was expecting her three older children while filming A Different World, Sinbad and Boy Meets World.

She previously shared she and her husband had spent years wanting a child together, but that she was nearly a year into menopause when finding out she was pregnant.

She’s credited natural remedies and a ‘low-stress environment’ for helping to reverse menopausal signs.
