Disney Pixar animated feature Inside Out 2 has swept the world in its opening weekend, drawing in a whopping $295,000,000 (£232million) in tickets sales.
The highly-anticipated sequel of the hit 2015 film follows now-teenager Riley (Kaitlyn Dias) and the emotions inside her head navigating their toughest challenge yet – puberty.
Amy Poehler reprised her role as primary emotion Joy, Phyllis Smith returned as Sadness and Lewis Black played Anger. Meanwhile, Liza Lapira took over from Mindy Kaling as Disgust and Tony Hale stepped in as Fear.
In the sequel, Riley’s mind conjures up all-new feelings including over-controlling Anxiety (Maya Hawke), ever-obsessive Envy (Ayo Edebiri) and nonchalant Ennui (Adele Exarchopoulos).
The first film already blew audiences away, grossing $858million (£676million) worldwide and landing an Oscar for best animated feature. And now Inside Out 2 is hot on its heels.
Already certified at an impressive 91% (and 96% audience score) on Rotten Tomatoes, the film has also produced impressive numbers for its box office debut weekend.

It totted up a huge $150million (£118million) in the US and took the top spot in the UK and Ireland at $14.4 million (£11million). In the UK it beat its predecessor, Dune: Part Two and is the best three-day figure since Barbie in July 2023, according to Comscore.
In second place on the box-office charts is Bad Boys: Ride Or Die at $68.3million (£53million).
Coming in at number one at the majority of box offices around the world, the family film has already made a huge $295million, smashing the already high predictions out the water.
If figures continue to grow, it is on track to become the highest-grossing animated feature of all time, beating out the 2019 Frozen sequel which drew in eye-watering $1.45billion (£1.14billion).

This is also the second-biggest opening weekend in Pixar history for the US, trailing just behind the 2018 Incredibles sequel at $182million (£143million).
Rave reviews have also flown in from critics.
The Guardian offered four stars, writing: ‘Is Inside Out 2 as memorable as the original? To borrow a word popular with Ennui, “Non!” Is it a must-see? Oui oui,’ while Forbes has dubbed this the ‘best Disney-Pixar in years’.
The Forbes critic continued: ‘I think it outshines the original, if only because it tackles the far more complex emotions teenagers (and their parents) grapple with and does it so well, with verve, humor and plenty of poignant moments.’
And the New York Times hailed it a ‘charming sequel’.
Although not all reviews were glowing, with Vulture adding: ‘New characters and elements get added, the metaphor becomes overextended, and the idea that this world is meant to be a reflection of one person’s psyche gets lost in a sea.’
Inside Out 2 is now available to watch in cinemas.
