It all changed for Chetter72 overnight (Twitch)

A Twitch streamer has gone from 100 to 250,000 followers in the space of a few days, thanks to a very kind fan who made him go viral on TikTok.

A week ago Chetter72 was a 52-year-old streamer who had lost his dream job, with no viewers and 100 followers on Twitch, as he mostly played Fortnite in front of an empty audience.

That all changed drastically when a new fan asked why Chetter72 was a streamer, and he explained how he had lost a job that he loved at Disney, due to medical issues, and turned to playing games on Twitch instead.

The conversation was recorded and posted on TikTok, where it went viral, and within days Chetter72 had gone from 100 followers to over 250,000 – and the chance to make a living on Twitch.

The fan who discovered Chetter72, fittingly named KindPenguin7 on Twitch, said they found the streamer with no viewers and asked him why he started streaming.

‘My whole career has been entertaining,’ Chetter72 said, ‘I worked at Disneyland and I had one of the coolest jobs ever.

‘I was the voice of Crush The Turtle [from Nemo] at Turtle Talk With Crush Show and it came to an abrupt end.’

He was asked why he doesn’t work at Disneyland anymore, where he was employed for 15 years, and Chetter52 said:

‘Well, I had some medical issues that made me not come into work a lot, and they just said: ‘We’re going to cut you because you’re missing so much work’. I had to go on disability. […] I miss it every day.’

KindPenguin7 then mentioned that it was his birthday, and Chetter72 happily sang happy birthday to them, but in the style of Crush, singing, ‘Happy hatch day to you. Remember to surf all day.’

To the streamer’s disbelief, his newest fan then donated $450 (£350) and the entire interaction was uploaded to TikTok, where the video has been liked nine million times.

This has triggered a stampede of new fans to Chetter72’s channel, which now has 254,000 followers.

Chetter72 went from having a peak viewership of six in the weeks before the blowout to 2,848 after the TikTok video went viral.

It’s great to see small streamers get some attention, as on the other side of the spectrum content creators such as xQc and Dr Disrespect sign multi-million dollar contracts for their services on Twitch and other platforms.

Chetter72 seems determined to make it last, as he is more active on Twitch now than before he went viral. Consistency is one of the most important ways to grow as a livestreamer, as UK content creator SoupforEloise told us earlier this year.

It’s all love for Chetter72 (TikTok)
