However, the fashion fan, who has black and red hair, took to social media to ask her followers for advice on whether she should wear the dress.

In a short clip shared online, the tattooed woman from Tacoma, Washington, first appeared in a grey sweatshirt, as she said: “I am going to a friend’s wedding at the end of the month and it’s spooky themed.

“I want a unique dress, but I want it to be kind of eye-catching but not bright.

“I found a dress on ASOS that I really like and it’s always hit or miss – it’s either amazing or terrible, so I’m gonna need your help.

“This is the dress – let me let me put it on and you can let me know.”

Seconds later, we saw Michelle model the black asymmetric neck contoured mesh midi dress.

She put her hair up and styled the dress with a pair of black boots.

Michelle stood back from the camera and put her hands on her hips, clearly impressed with her new purchase.

Smiling, Michelle then headed towards the camera and simply continued: “Respectfully…yeah.”

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @girrlscout, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed a whopping 192,000 views.

But social media users were totally divided by the woman’s ‘wedding guest dress‘ – whilst some thought it was ‘perfect’ for the wedding, many weren’t so sure it was appropriate.

Wedding Guest Outfit Etiquette

If you’re struggling to decided on a dress to see you through wedding season, here’s a few rules on what not to wear so you don’t get in trouble.

Folklore says that wearing red at a wedding means you slept with the groom.
Casual attire like jeans and flip flops should always be avoided.
Any colour that could be picked up as white or cream – even if it’s not.
Most would agree that your cleavage needs to be covered.
Wearing white is a massive no-no if you’re not the bride.

Whilst one woman explained: “I, personally, would not approve of this at my wedding.”

Not only this, but another user shared: “I’d say it’s perfect for the club but for a wedding I’d go more for looking classy rather than hot.”

You are going to overshadow the bride

Meanwhile, many TikTok users claimed that Michelle shouldn’t wear the dress, as she’ll ‘look better than the bride’.

One user posted: “You know you’re not allowed to look better than the bride!”

Another agreed: “Your only problem is that you are going to overshadow the bride.”

And someone else asked: “It’s a gorgeous dress! Genuine question – are you concerned it might take attention away from the bride? It suits you perfectly though!”

But to this, Michelle confirmed: “Oh, it has the bride’s approval.”
