Gosh! It’s really been 20 years since Napoleon Dynamite hit the big screen.

Fans are still saying ‘vote for Pedro’ and asking for some of Napoleon’s tots, and actor Jon Heder looks back fondly on the 2004 cult classic, which followed the titular nerdy high-school student trying to navigate teen life.

However, he doesn’t think the iconic character is doing well two decades on, as the Hollywood star insisted it’s probably not been smooth sailing for his alter ego.

Asked where he would be today, he admitted to E! News: ‘I don’t think it’s looking pretty for Napoleon.

‘I think Napoleon’s life is more drama than comedy. I think he is battling some health issues and has thinning hair.’

It’s also bad luck for anyone still shipping Napoleon and his crush Deb, played by Tina Majorino, as Jon doesn’t think things worked out for the pair.

However, he added: ‘But he’s still trying to win her back. So maybe there’s an adventure there.’

That sounds like a sequel to us…

The 46-year-old actor has reprised his most famous role a few times over the years in adverts and sketches, including a collaboration this month with Ora-Ida.

The ad is a callback to his crushed tots at the hands of high school classmate Randy (Bracken Johnson), and now Napoleon has special Tot-Protecting Pants to prevent a repeat.

‘It just seemed kind of obvious,’ he said of the partnership and campaign. ‘If Napoleon is ever going to sell anything it’s either tots or Chapstick.’

He revealed the line ‘Napoleon, give me some of your tots’ is ‘actually the one that gets yelled me the most’, which he is absolutely fine with.

And 20 years on, the father-of-four admitted his own children have started to embrace the ‘craze’.

‘They’re very aware of the craze,’ he said. ‘My daughter actually enjoys it. She’s seven. She’s like, “Oh, can we watch clips from the movie?”‘

His 10-year-old son ‘loves the reaction it gets’, and has an understanding of ‘the fame aspect’.

Jon added: ‘I don’t know if he cares that much about the movie. But he loves to tell people who I am.’
