Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree – an unearned victory (Bandai Namco)

A Shadow Of The Erdtree streamer has beaten the final boss thanks to a bizarre bug, but ironically used a cheat to complete it properly.

Elden Ring’s highly-anticipated expansion Shadow Of The Erdtree finally came out last week but, despite being very good and scoring higher than any other downloadable content ever at launch, fans have still found issues with it.

Soon after its release PC fans review bombed the expansion for having performance problems and on grounds that it’s simply too hard.

One streamer has captured another issue with the expansion: a bug that saw the final boss simply leave the scene mid-fight, handing the fan a very unclimactic victory. (Obviously, there are spoilers ahead.)

Twitch streamer Saintone had spent over three hours fighting the final boss in Shadow Of The Erdtree, when it looked like he was finally going to slay Radahn, Consort Of Miquella.

During the promising attempt, when Radahn’s health was low, the boss suddenly stopped, turned, and walked away from Saintone’s in-game character.

Seconds later Radahn vanished into thin air and Saintone was confirmed the victor when Radahn’s health bar emptied out and the ‘God Slain’ message popped up.

Initially speechless, Saintone exited the game hoping it didn’t save, saying, ‘There’s no f****** way, dude. There’s no shot I’m going to take that as a win.’

Unfortunately, the game autosaved after the fight, much to Saintone’s despair. However, thanks to his fans he found a way to restore the final boss fight using Cheat Engine, and the streamer finished the game properly.

The next day Saintone logged back on and finally beat Radahn, after dying almost 100 times to the final boss alone – with a total of 309 deaths throughout his playthrough.

Saintone’s experience with the expansion further solidifies it as a serious challenge for fans, but not an unbeatable one.

That being said, one would expect a game, especially DLC, from the makers of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Bloodborne to be difficult.
