Stranger Things fans have been given a glimpse at the upcoming fifth and final season of the show after two of its lead stars were snapped on set.

First hitting screens back in 2016, the science fiction horror drama set in the 1980s follows the residents of the fictional small town of Hawkins, Indiana, as they are plagued by a hostile alternate dimension known as the Upside Down.

It has made household names of its young stars including Noah Schnapp, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin and Sadie Sink, who play Will, Elle, Dustin, Lucas and Max.

Filming on the upcoming season began late last year, however the stars have now been seen for the first time.

On Tuesday, Noah and Finn were photographed filming a scene with their bikes while on set in Jackson, Georgia.

They were seen atop the retro bikes, riding alongside each other and joined by Mike’s younger sister Holly Wheeler (Nell Fisher).

The pair, now aged 19 and 21, were also seen walking around with umbrellas between scenes.

It comes after photos of the set were released last year, showing downtown Hawkins in a secured military facility with a check point, downtown businesses and an industrial maintenance facility.

One of the photos of the set, which still appeared to still be under construction at the time, showed a shopfront on the main street of the town, while another showed two bunker-like structures.

It’s not clear when the final episodes will be released, however the first will be titled Chapter One: The Crawl.

Last year David Harbour (who plays Hopper) confirmed the season would start with a time jump and wouldn’t pick up immediately after the events of the penultimate chapter, which ended with the final almost killing off Max (Sadie), the Upside Down emerging from the ground and Vecna declared war on Hawkins.

He also warned fans to be ready for a gut-punch after he was told the ending was ‘very moving’.

‘I know what it is,’ he told the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast.

‘I know where we net out and it’s very, very moving. That is the term I will use.’

Stranger Things is streaming on Netflix.
